“Tumi was excellent!”

Tumi was wonderful at the Quills Restaurant during our stay at the hotel. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. She had a great smile and a terrific attitude. Breakfast was excellent and timely. The food quality was also great, but Tumi made the visit.

Intercontinental OR Tambo was incredible. When I originally booked here I was a little resentful of the price tag compared to other hotels nearby, but thought it would be worth it not to have to deal with 30+ hours of travel (coming from California) and then have to shuttle to a more distant hotel likely with less amenities. I am SO glad I paid a little more to stay here. We had some pretty horrendous flight cancelations and reroutes in Europe and some luggage drama before arriving in Joburg, so when we finally did arrive, to be able to just walk out of the arrivals terminal, cross the street and check in was such a huge relief, so convenient. Service and Hospitality in South Africa is always fantastic in my opinion, and this place is no exception. All the employees were so friendly and helpful, very eager to grab a cart or bag, show us the way, give us information, etc. We arrived at least 5 hours before our check in time, but for a small fee (after 30-35 hours any price would have been worth it) they let us check in immediately. Within 15 min of arriving we and our bags were up in our suite room, which was lovely. I hate feeling dirty in a hotel room and will quickly find things that aren’t clean right away, and there was none of that here. We spent the rest of the afternoon sleeping off our jet lag in our large cozy bed and ordering room service. The food from the downstairs restaurant served up to the room was so delicious, and it never took more than 15 minutes to arrive. We were so wrecked from the journey we never took the time to enjoy the pool or spa amenities, but we did pop upstairs to see, and it was a really lovely area. And heated pool, which is not something you get a lot of with pools in Africa! We had a domestic flight the next morning and at check out the bell hop was kind enough to get us a cart, walk us all the way across the street, into the airport to the Airlink check-in desk, and hand the attendant our bags. You can tell they really pride themselves on total service, and we really felt that throughout our short but lovely stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again, despite its heftier price tag compared to some other nearby places. Totally worth it.

“Great service and food on your doorstep”

Great service, good location if your local knowledge is a bit rusty, very good dinner with friendly service and value for money with very limited effort - walk across the road.... Good size room, with everything working and very clean and tidy.

The hotel is perfectly located, just outside the terminal, you need to walk 5 minutes to get to the lobby of the hotel. So it is ideal for a short layover when you have an early connection. The hotel is a standard intercontinental hotel, rooms are standard as in many hotel of the chain, a. It dated but still ok. The views are not great but the rooms are soundproof. The restaurant is ok, but not really good (my meat was not very tender and overcooked). Breakfast is good. Staff is friendly and quite attentive. The hotel is ok for one night at the airport and very convenient, however I would not choose it for a longer stay as the hotel is nothing special.
