I will start by saying that I never wanted to go on a safari but it’s been my husband’s dream so I booked it for his 60th birthday and it didn’t disappoint. I absolutely loved it and would go back in a heartbeat! The lodge itself is beautiful and very well maintained . Lots of lovely outside seating and a very cold swimming pool! Our room was a good size with a large comfortable bed and everything you need. It was kept very clean during our stay and Paulinah, our cleaner was very friendly and happy in her work. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and served buffet food for all meals. The food was very good! There was so much choice and everything was fresh and tasty. The staff in the restaurant were the friendliest, happiest restaurant staff I’ve ever come across! KB was particularly good, remembering our names from day 1 ! The safari’s happened nearly every morning and every afternoon during our 7 day stay. We were given Mpho as our guide and he was fantastic. So knowledgeable and you could tell he absolutely loved and cared about the animals. He also loved his job. He kept us safe while making sure we saw everything we wanted to see during the week. He also had a good sense of humour and made the safaris a great experience. The jeeps were very comfortable and they provided blankets , however it was freezing even with the blankets and several layers. We managed to see so many animals, in fact the only one we didn’t see was the leopard. I also used the spa while my husband did a quad bike safari . I had an amazing facial from Linda, one of the best treatments I’ve ever had and it was so cheap! If you are thinking about booking this, do it! You will not regret it. Thank you to everyone at Mabula, you are all amazing!!

“This little gem keeps getting better”

We stayed 3 nights in October. Our room was comfortable and clean. Staff were amazing, and food was exceptional. Our ranger Matimba was 1st class.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Our first time in Africa and Mabula did not disappoint. The scenery was breathtaking and we saw so many wild animals up close. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Our first time in Africa and Mabula did not disappoint. The scenery was breathtaking and we saw so many wild animals up close. The guides were excellent - ours was Collen who was knowledgeable and friendly and made every drive (usually two daily) special. On one of our bush walks (with another excellent guide, Frans) we stood for some time, close by to two male cheetahs resting under a tree . The Ground Hornbill project was very interesting and the guy was so passionate about his job you couldn't help but to love the birds. The inclusive meals were excellent and my gluten free meals ( I am coeliac) were great and I had no problems at all. One of the chefs, known as Africa, went out of his way to be helpful and on occasions made special desserts for me when other things were unsuitable. The accommodation was very clean ,comfortable and wonderfully African. The people there, without exception, were helpful, friendly and welcoming. We went through Titan where everything was arranged and everything that we did (apart from the horse riding) was included. There were other optional extras available (such as the spa) but we had a full enough programme that we didn't need anything else. Lirissa, our lovely Titan guide at Mabula, made sure we knew what was happening everyday and was always on hand to help with any questions. Overall it was a magical, unforgettable experience and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as it exceeded our expectations.

We had a week long safari stay at Mabula and everything exceeded our expectations. The accommodation lodges were well equipped and the bed was huge and really comfortable. The room overall perhaps needed a bit of updating in places but it is a safari lodge so this added to the authenticity! The food was plentiful and excellent quality served as a buffet style for all meals. Obviously the main reason for our stay were the safari drives and they were simply outstanding. Our ranger guide KC worked hard to show us all the beautiful wildlife on offer at this huge reserve. Lots of unexpected added touches such as a dinner and a breakfast out in the wild. We used the added services such as horse riding, quad biking, spa massage, bush walk and the gift shop, all of which were great and excellent value for money. Overall, if you’re expecting one of these modern all-inclusive type resorts where you just lie by the pool all day relaxing then just stay at home! This is an activity based holiday where you’re up at dawn and on-the-go for most part of the day taking in everything that this fantastic reserve has to offer. If you enjoy the great outdoors and appreciate wildlife then get yourself booked on this trip as you will not be disappointed.
