I can't recommend Kuzuko Lodge highly enough. We had an amazing 4 nights here. So lucky to get Shaun as our ranger - he makes it his mission to give his guests the best experience possible and to share his extensive knowledge.We were lucky enough to see Lions, Rhinos , Buffalos, Giraffes, Zebra and all manner of Antelope and birds- sadly the Cheetahs hid from us but we had an amazing encounter whilst looking for them with a herd of Elephants in the Addo including a tiny baby one. I arrived without luggage due to an airline mixup - the team sorted all this for me and even went on a 6 hour round trip to collect my bag when it arrived. The food was lovely and the lodges very comfortable. I celebrated a milestone birthday whilst there and can honestly say I had the best birthday experience. The team worked with my husband to organise several surprises - from champagne on the early game drive , a private dining experience and a lovely cake. The weather was very mixed -really hot one day to strong winds and rain. It can be very nippy in the mornings and evenings so lots of layers are needed. Special mention to Shaun the Ranger, Derrick the restuarant manager, Siya our lovely waitress who gave me such a special dining experience and the reservation team for sorting my suitcase!

We had a wonderful multi-generational holiday at Kuzuko Lodge. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was great; plenty of choice for vegetarians and children, and a lot of flexibility as well. Tim was an amazing guide/ driver; in spite of poor weather he took care that we saw as many animals and birds as possible, and was a mine of information, always responsive to the children and what they were interested in. The lodge is very comfortable; our rooms had an amazing view and the sofa bed for the children was fine. The fires in the main lodge were certainly welcome, as were the hot towels and chocolate each time we got back. We were lucky to have several conversations with James and greatly enjoyed hearing about how the lodge was set up; an inspirational story. The lodge was a great choice for a first safari with children ( 7 and 11) because sightings were pretty guaranteed without driving long distances and there was the option to get down from the jeep occasionally; once when we were near giraffes which was amazing.

We loved our time at kuzuko. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel so welcome. The room was fantastic and the views were stunning. At night it was so peaceful and quiet and dark. The night sky was beautiful and I got some amazing photos of the Milky way. The food was also great. We were very lucky to have Shaun as our driver and guide on safari. He was wonderful and when we left we felt we leaving a friend behind. He has a great passion for wildlife and his knowledge was second to none. We were there for 3 days and the weather caused one of game drives to be cut very short and another delayed and almost cancelled but despite all of this Shaun managed to work though it and find us so many of the animals. We saw lions elephants, buffalo, chettas, giraffe, zebra and so many other types of antelope. I would love to return to Kuzuko some day and highly recommend it to others.

We feel what made the holiday for us is the staff. We stayed at Kuzuko for three nights and had game drives twice daily. We did the nature walk also and enjoyed the spa. I would like to focus my review on Shaun the guide, who ultimately made our trip. Given myself and my partners background in animal welfare and disease we are able to recognise some basics but our knowledge of African land mammals and birds is obviously very limited. Very quickly we could recognise that Shaun was a truly passionate, professional expert. His knowledge was incredible: ; he knew in detail anatomy (eg which animals were hindgut fermenters vs runinants); able to tell us all gestation periods; how to sex the different species and that was just the basics. This knowledge went right up to the Latin names of some of the plants which was just ridiculous! Obviously guests want to see rhino, lions ect but If you are lucky enough to get Shaun as your guide there is so much more to learn about the amazing animals of Southern Africa and conservation efforts to try to save them. Shaun makes you feel at ease on the trip and makes you feel like no question is a stupid one. Just ask ‘stop’ if you think you see something and enjoy spotting the animals as you go. We obviously made it clear in person to Shaun how amazing he made our holiday and hope that Kuzuko management also recognise his ability and nurture it. Our constructive feedback to Kuzuko would be to consider the possibility to rent out binoculars to guests - some guests missed out seeing game close up as they didn’t have their own. Shaun kindly lent his out but the option to rent binoculars could provide small additional income to the park and benefit guests also. Also consider taking a good camera out to take pictures of guests at Sundowner drinks To guests looking to see game in Africa for the first time and educate themselves then book in at Kuzuko -from kids to professionals working in the animal world you will learn lots and have an amazing holiday! *The pictures added are ones taken on just one of our evening trips! By the end of your Kuzuko stay you’ll be able to name the species!
