The Clarion Congress is a genuine four star hotel. The rooms are spacious, modern and comfortable. The location of the hotel is around a 15 minute walk to old town and very local to the train station. The breakfast served is also generous with numerous options and available from early in the morning right up until 10:30. One weird thing is the room configuration - where glass panels are visible into the shower and toilet area without privacy. I’ve stayed all over the world and never encountered this before and should be something you consider before booking this hotel.

A great hotel close to the main railway station and bus terminus and walking distance to the old town (25 mins). Super friendly staff, very clean and modern decorations. Very substantial and varied breakfast options that also cater for gluten free choices (you do have to ask though). Lounge area was great to relax in after a busy day sightseeing, and offered a good snack and main menu if needed. Only criticism would be that the lights in the bedrooms are a little dim and be warned (if it's likely to bother you) that the bath and shower are open plan in the room (although there are privacy curtains that can be drawn).

“Cool hotel”

Cool hotel in Bratislava which offers comfortable rooms and friendly service. It takes few minutes to get to the old town by walk. Dinner in the hotel was good and all the staff are friendly. There is a fitness room with a nice view. We had a nice time in Bratisla. Thank you guys.

First of all, while many guests praise the hotels convenient location I didn't find it particularly advantageous, since Bratislava is a relatively compact city and most major attractions are within walking distance anyway. Upon arrival, we encountered an issue with the shower in our initial room. The shower itself was quite complicated to operate (certainly not user friendly) and required some time and effort to figure out which is unnecessary when all you want is a quick shower. Worse, both the showerhead and the hose were faulty with water flowing from both simultaneously, and only cold water coming from the shower. I reported this to the front desk before we left for a walk, hoping it would be resolved by the time we returned. When we came back that night we were informed that the technician was unable to fix it and we'd be moved to a new room. Carrying our belongings upstairs on our own no assistance was offered - although it would be courteous to ask - we made our way to the new room. To our surprise and embarrassment, this room was already occupied and we ended up startling the current guests. I can only imagine how uncomfortable they felt having their space unexpectedly "invaded". Why mistakes happen, basic operational oversight like keeping track of room occupancy is fundamental for any hotel. So, once again, we made our way back to the reception, belongings in tow, still without any assistance and were assigned yet another room. The rooms themselves have a rather unusual setup with "open bathrooms", featuring glass enclosures instead of walls. In the first room, the glass was covered by an curtain on the outside of the bathroom (not in the bathroom), probably because the toilet was within the bathroom space. While this setup still felt intrusive, the second room was even more uncomfortable, with an open glass shower in the main room area. As I was traveling with family, this arrangement required us to step out of the room whenever someone was using the shower. I find it hard to understand the appeal of this design, as it seems to prioritize cost cutting over just comfort. Based on my experience most guests, including couples, are unlikely to appreciate this lack of privacy. Moreover, I honestly find it hard to believe that even the hotel employees who might defend this setup have bathrooms without walls in their own homes. We chose not to return to reception to request yet another room, as we were tired of moving our belongings around the hotel and simply wanted to complete or stay and leave don't had with been able to afford a last-minute booking at a different hotel we would have done so.
