During my recent stay at Hilton Medina, I found the value for money to be questionable. While the hotel's location is excellent and its facility, though older, is well-maintained, several issues with service quality and management left much to be desired, signaling a departure from typical Hilton standards. Major Issues: ——-——————– 1- Double Billing: Upon arrival, I was charged for two rooms for two nights, amounting to a few thousand Saudi riyals. The charge appeared on my credit card via SMS from the bank. However, at check-out, I was charged again for the same rooms, plus room service fees. When I pointed this out to the staff, it took them 10 minutes to verify the error. Although they confirmed I would be reimbursed, no apology was offered, nor was there any attempt to rectify the situation or compensate for the inconvenience. This incident, unfortunately, felt like a common issue rather than an isolated mistake. 2- Delayed Check-in: Despite being a Hilton Honors Silver member, I was checked into my room at 5:00 PM, an hour later than the standard check-in time of 4:00 PM. The staff attempted to frame it as an upgrade, but the room provided was exactly the same as what I had originally booked. 3- Concierge and Transportation Issues: Upon departure, the concierge led us to a private car that demanded 200 SAR to take us to the airport. After I refused, the next offer was 150 SAR from another vehicle. I ended up walking a short distance and found a green, minivan, taxi, which charged 100 SAR. Hilton should ensure that private cars are not pushed onto guests, as they do not comply with local regulations for taxis and similar services. 4- Poor Dinner Buffet: Priced at 150 SAR, the dinner buffet was below average in quality, which further contributed to the disappointment. Positive Aspects: ———————————– A) The hotel's proximity to Al-Haram is a clear advantage, being only a few hundred meters away. B) The breakfast buffet was good. C)?Room cleanliness was well-maintained. D) The staff were polite, particularly Nadim in the breakfast buffet, Badr the doorman, and the security team in the reception and on the first floor. In summary, despite its excellent location and polite staff, my experience at Hilton Medina was marred by significant financial issues and service shortcomings, which raise concerns about management oversight.
