“Good location but looks a little tired....”

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of October. The location is great, the front desk staff are very helpful and the breakfast is more than adequate - hot food, cheese, ham, fruit etc plus the most amazing choice of cakes and pastries!! The room we had was a pleasant surprise after reading some of the previous reviews here. It's an old hotel that in general looks a little sad, the hallways and rooms could def use a coat of bright new paint (currently dark yellow walls and brown paintwork makes everything look old and tired). But everything in the room was fine - the beds were comfortable, there was enough shelf space to put 2 small suitcases, there is a small wardrobe with only 5 hangers so bring your own travel hangers if you need more. The tv on the wall is about the size of a postage stamp lol. The bathroom was a good size with a bath and shower attachment, pressure was good. Our room overlooked a residential apartment block so we had to keep the curtains closed all the time which added to the general dullness of the room. If you need somewhere close to Rossio Square (and all the restaurants etc) this will work for you. If you are looking for somewhere you could hang out during the day this probably isn't for you as the room ambience isn't great.

Despite initial concerns after reading some recent reviews we were quite happy with our stay. Our room (superior twin) was large with two very comfortable 4ft beds. The only negatives were very limited clothes storage (hanging space only, no shelves or drawers). A kettle was provided but only one teabag and one coffee sachet which were not replaced after the first day. The bathroom was small but adequate with good shower and plentiful hot water. Fresh towels were provided each day. The breakfast included cereals, fruit, good quality breads and a superb selection of cakes and pastries. Hot food selection was adequate. The hotel location is ideal, close to metro and train station with many restaurants and bars within 5-10 minutes walk. All the hotel staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.

“Good Central Location ”

Modern hotel with good sized rooms, comfortable beds, minbar and great shower. Buffet breakfast was available for €15 but lots of other cafes nearby within a few minutes walk. “Great location for city breaks but on the expensive side for what you get. ”

Great location for restaurants bars local attractions Metro and Train. The area that the hotel is in is great the front of house staff and especially the bar staff were outstanding very helpful and attentive. Great location for restaurants bars local attractions Metro and Train. The area that the hotel is in is great the front of house staff and especially the bar staff were outstanding very helpful and attentive. Rooms were small but the cleaners kept every inch of our room spotless. A couple with 2 bags will struggle for space here. The room size forces you out of the hotel to explore the city. A mid range hotel with unfortunately a higher price bracket.

We stayed at this hotel from Wednesday 4th September to Sunday 8th September 2024 as part of our Rail discoveries escorted tour. The hotel is in an excellent location,near the metro,shops and restaurants but is its very noisy at night when selfish people make alot of noise! Its also uphill and as the funicular wasnt working it was a difficult climb especially with a suitcase!
