“A lovely surprise!”

Just had a week at this hotel and I’ve had a really good experience. The location seems quite poor at first, up the steepest, most traffic heavy hill from the city but bear with it. Inside it’s beautiful, small and friendly feeling. Our room (202) had a lovely terrace that looked out onto the city. The beds are comfy, there is a large bathroom with bathrobes, there is a mini fridge and the telly had lots of channels in English. There was a coffee pod machine which was a great touch. The staff are helpful, and I must give a huge shoutout to Waleed at this point. We had a strange tapping noise above our room all night the first night. We went to see Waleed on reception and he came up to help us figure it out. He dealt with a very rude, drunk couple above us whose patio furniture was banging. Despite them being unpleasant to him and us he solved our issue and we had the quietest nights for the rest of the time. Thank you, we know it was your first week there too! Ok, so location. Fees like it could be better but actually, when you explore around it you find loads of lovely bars and places to eat. You just have to walk in the right direction. Next door to the hotel is also the best restaurant we ate in all week, we went twice. There are multiple ways to get up to the hotel without having to walk up the hill - tram, bus, taxi, tuktuk (there are far too many tuktuks in Lisbon they are actually a menace). Breakfast is small and seems basic but they make the freshest, most delicious fruit salad every morning that I looked forward to and the coffee was strong and delicious. I really rate this hotel and if we return to Lisbon we 100% would stay here again.

“Acceptable”

We were on the third floor. Room size was average. Bed was comfortable. Balcony was large and had a table for two. Nice views of the city. The bathroom was large by European standards but is dated. The mirror desperately needs to be resilvered. Robes and slippers are provided, but washcloths… more

We were on the third floor. Room size was average. Bed was comfortable. Balcony was large and had a table for two. Nice views of the city. The bathroom was large by European standards but is dated. The mirror desperately needs to be resilvered. Robes and slippers are provided, but washcloths are not. Breakfast was included and satisfactory. Parking was our biggest issue. I contacted the hotel a few weeks in advance and I was told that parking cannot be reserved. That parking was first come first serve. I was told how to get past the barricades to drive up to the hotel doors and I was told to call the day of arrival for a passcode. I called as we were driving to Lisbon and the clerk said “we don’t have a reservation for your car”. What? Totally contradicting earlier information provided. Luckily he said they still had space. We arrived, parked and checked in with no issues. In fact, it was after 7 pm and we were the only car in the garage. They keep your keys at the front desk since the garage is small. The next morning we asked to leave our car beyond check out time. Our flight was at 5 pm so we hoped to stay parked until about 3. The manager refused stating they might need the space. Parking was €17 so I felt that we should have been allowed to stay. The manager said we had to leave the garage no later than 2. We returned right at 2 pm and retrieved our car keys from the front desk. We were still the only car in the garage. Frustrating that the manager was so unwilling to accommodate date us when the demand at that time of day did not warrant his refusal.

This place is ok but tired and would very much benefit from an update. Room a/c or heater fan noisy so had to cool the room down whilst we were out and switch it off before going to bed. Bed very creaky on any movement at all. No feather pillows available only foam. Manager a bit distant and not overly friendly. Polite enough though.
