I realise that each person’s experience of any event can be different but my wife and I had a wonderful experience in the Czar Lisbon Hotel. We stayed for four nights and had not one complaint. Check-in was friendly and professional. There was a surprise for us too, as the receptionist noticed (on Passport) that it was my wife’s birthday so he issued us with a ‘Happy Birthday’ card and voucher for us both to have a free drink in the bar. He also gave us a voucher for 30% off a dinner in the hotel restaurant. We were immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel. I had requested a quiet room and that is what we got. It was on the second floor at the rear of the hotel. The pristine bathroom was equipped with fresh soft towels, bottles of soap and lotion, while the shower had shampoo and conditioner. There was an ample supply of toilet paper. There was low lighting under the sink unit which was welcome at night. The bedroom had a very comfortable double bed, two layers of curtains, a storage area for clothes and baggage, a mini-fridge, a Nespresso coffee maker, a bottle of water, and a safe. The hotel is located on a busy street so there will be ambulances, police vehicles and other traffic passing by at all hours but we were never bothered by the noise. The hotel was one of the quietest hotels we have ever stayed in. We didn’t hear any banging doors (the doors close slowly and quietly). Once or twice we did hear voices on the corridor but our sleep was never disturbed by loud guests, or extraneous noises. We did hear the rumble of the early morning metro (starts at 6:30 am) but it was not a problem and we were never disturbed by the noise at night. As in any major city there are homeless people in the vicinity but they never approached us – the only time we did come into contact with beggars was at the airport. Reaching the hotel from the airport is trouble-free. The Red metro line stops at Alameda, from where one can walk or get the Green line to Anjos which is near the hotel. The hotel was so comfortable that we had a ‘nightcap’ with snacks in the bar each night. Our abiding memory of the hotel is the friendliness of the staff - we were greeted each morning with a ‘Bom Dia’ from the receptionists. Housekeepers were thorough and kind, while the bar staff including the Manager were friendly and professional – they made us feel like royalty. Thanks to Sergio who was moving on to adventures new. Our heartfelt thanks to all at the Czar – you made it special for us.

Absolutely can not fault this beautiful hotel, staff were the nicest so helpful so polite, the place was spotless everywhere, must commend the household staff, even if we left to go out late we'd arrive back to pristine beds, fresh towels, bathroom polished, floor hoovered, spotless cannot commend enough, did not eat at hotel but gifted a voucher for 30% off for a dinner which was nice bar was wonderful coffee and fresh juice delicious, a little pricer than some place's but cheaper than at the water front and at home, hotel a little bit further than main tourist areas but we purchased a lisboa card for 72 hours and used all transportation on it free, metro and Bustop right outside our door so an absolute gift do get the card. No need for hair dryer or shampoo, body wash, hand wash and cream as hotel provides all and very nice it was a really good rain and handheld shower and the bath was gladly needed after site seeing on those hills, beds were splendid I commented to my partner I'd had the best sleep abroad ever in their bed, crisp cotton bedding, good pillows, duvet all good quality, room has tv not many English speaking channels though, has a nesspresso machine a small fridge and leaves water for your arrival, terrace at front of hotel a little noisy but covered by a glass wall, we had a delightful stay at the Czar Lisbon and would be happy to visit and stay again thanks so much.

“Worst breakfast box ever.”
A great hotel but DON'T order a breakfast box; it was without doubt the worst we have ever had. A bottle of water, carton of juice , a bruised apple and 'sandwich' of bread that had gone dry with no butter and a slice of cheese and ham that had stuck together. I'm not a fussy eater but this was inedible and in no way reflected the breakfast we had paid for or been having there.
