Lamego Hotel & Life is an exceptional retreat in the Douro Valley. The pool is a true oasis—perfectly maintained and surrounded by stunning scenery, offering a relaxing escape. I was particularly impressed with the burgers, which were cooked to perfection, juicy, and full of flavor. They’re a must-try if you’re staying here. What really stood out, though, was the staff. From check-in to check-out, everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make my stay perfect. Their warm hospitality made a great impression and added a personal touch to my experience. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and offered breathtaking views. Overall, Lamego Hotel & Life provides a wonderful combination of luxury, comfort, and outstanding service. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Douro Valley.

We are coming to the end of a one week stay. After I booked the hotel and read reviews I was not sure this was the right hotel, but I need not have worried. Staff excellent - really helpful, try to make the guest happy, nothing too much trouble. Food is really good. We had breakfast - plenty of choice and a special mention for the fresh fruit. Lunch at the bar, and Dinner in the restaurant all very good each time. The hotel has plenty of little areas, inside and out to sit, talk, eat and generally relax. The pool is very warm, I would prefer it colder to contrast with the hot weather, but can see it would be good in colder months. Towels are provided as are towel robes. Views are beautiful. It is a distance from the town and we did need to take car out if we had dinner in town.rooms are minimal but everything is there that you need apart from a safe. We would happily stay again. Trips organised by hotel also really good.

Great views, great staff and close to village. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel has a great pool area with plenty of room to relax. Great views, great staff and close to village. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel has a great pool area with plenty of room to relax. The restaurant has a limited menu for lunch and dinner but a great breakfast buffet. The staff was very accommodating and provided great recommendations for restaurants and helped with transportation. It's about a twenty minute walk to town; downhill going in and uphill coming home!! We would stay again.

The hotel location offers views of the mountains, while still in the city of Lamego, which offers many good dining places and attractions, as well as within the wine region (Peso da Régua - Pinhão). The staff was one extra point, always willing to help, giving multiple options of things to do and visit, helping with reservations... Jessica at the front desk was just amazing. The outdoor swimming pool is heated, we would go there sometimes in the morning (when it was chilly) or in the afternoon (really hot), but always nice for a good end of the day rest, after visiting vineyards, The bar and breakfast area offers nice views of the mountains. The parking garage had 4 public electric car charges, so we went with our Tesla with no worries. Great place to stay!

What is excellent is the staff and communication. At the reception, and by WhatsApp. They really make and check if you’re comfortable, assist with booking activities and attend to your needs. What is excellent is the staff and communication. At the reception, and by WhatsApp. They really make and check if you’re comfortable, assist with booking activities and attend to your needs. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and rooms are kept clean. Also breakfast and spa deserves a very good review. Love that there’s a standard lactose free milk option there. A suggestion would be to add even more allergy information about the products. I do have some feedback though: The pool area urgently needs some TLC. Although guests make full use of the pool and beds, the area is not cleaned and staff doesn’t tend to guests at all. We bought a bottle of wine at the bar inside and brought it to the pool on the first day. On the third day the bucket and bottle were still there. Beds aren’t cleaned and full of spider(web)s. Also the pool water, toilets and entire area were and stayed very dirty. Inside the bar staff barely had anything to do, because almost all of the guests were at the pool. How nice would it have been to attend your guests outside if you do have the time or at least clean once a day? Also I would recommend to extend the opening times of the indoor pool and gym. 9.30 is quite late to open them and 19.30 is way too early to close. Why not have guests enjoy these beautiful features more and longer. You would want to hit the gym or take a swim to start or end your day right? Lastly, I had to switch keycards 4 or 5 times during my stay. It’s time for a new keycard system guys :-)
