Excellent hotel, with clean, warm, comfortable, well-appointed rooms. Friendly and efficient staff. Good and not expensive bar. Nice swimming pool. Well-located on the river Vistula with easy walk to the Old Town or to the charming town of Podgorze on the other bank. First-rate shopping mall with large supermarket just round the corner. Strongly recommended.

“Really pleasant stay”

Had a really good eleven nights at the Galaxy. The room was a good size, and the shower room perfectly adequate. I was a solo traveller so the fact that the room had two single beds together rather than a double wasn't an issue for me. Rooms were serviced promptly each day, but on the day before departure the tea/coffee etc were not replenished nor were the cups/glasses cleaned, although the bed was made up and the shower room cleaned. With regard to the dining, the first thing to say is that I did not go hungry. I was staying here for the chess tournament, as were all the guests in the hotel, so a lunch and dinner buffet service was provided for all of us. It was mostly okay, however (and this is my fault), as I am a really fussy eater there were many occasions where the limited choice left me with one option (and one evening there was nothing for me). One of the highlights of each meal was finding out what the daily 'starch additive' was going to be (only once was it chips). Some of the food labelling was amusing/perplexing ('cake with gravy' was on offer once. It was just cake). Breakfast was plentiful, but although sausages (frankfurters or polish sausages) were offered every day bacon was only an option on four of the eleven days. There is also a really handy 'Snack Corner' in the lobby where you can get crisps, chocolate bars, gum and drinks all for 5 Zloty or €1 per item (just pop the payment in the honesty box provided). The bar in the lobby served reasonably priced drinks, and special mention to Magdelene(?) for her cheerful service. The area at the top of the spiral staircase to the first floor included a few large paintings of primates, including one of a Bonobo with a serious hemorrhoid problem. The hotel itself is about a 40 minute stroll into the centre of the city. There is a pleasant shopping centre a couple of minutes from the hotel which includes (amongst many other things) a supermarket and a pharmacy, and a food court on the first level. Overall, a really pleasant stay and I would certainly consider staying here again if visiting Krakow again the future.

Lovely hotel , breakfast was plentiful, average prices in the bar , pool is a bit small but to be honest we didn't go for that so didn't bother us , hubby went down just to cool down after a long day , the hotel is about 45 min from maim Square which seems a lot but its a lovely walk and plenty ... more

Lovely hotel , breakfast was plentiful, average prices in the bar , pool is a bit small but to be honest we didn't go for that so didn't bother us , hubby went down just to cool down after a long day , the hotel is about 45 min from maim Square which seems a lot but its a lovely walk and plenty to see on the way , or the tram stop and bus stops are near by .

“Good hotel but...”

Good hotel, but.. There is a swimming pool and a sauna, but if you want to use them - there is no free space. You should preferably sign up a few days in advance. Even though it is included in the price, I couldn't take advantage of it. This is discouraging. This influenced my assessment.
