“We Always Enjoy Staying Here”
When we come to Oslo this is where we want to stay. It's easy to get to from the airport and is in a great location. Great rooms and beds giving a good night's sleep.

“Fantastic Location, Great customer service”
This hotel was in an excellent part of town and close a ton of restaurants. The customer service was amazing.

“A lovely clean hotel”
A lovely clean hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely each morning, the only things missing in your room are tea/ coffee making facilities and maybe a mini fridge too. Otherwise a lovely stay and we will be coming back again next year.

The hotel is actually quite nice. It's starting to show its age and wear and tear a bit. A bigger problem, however, is how the company's service is gradually being replaced by a hard-nosed focus on profit and creative psychological methods, like advertising the same room at three different prices. Where you used to pay a cancellation fee, which might vary depending on how far in advance you were canceling, they're now gambling on people paying a bit more than the lowest advertised price, where you can be "so lucky" to reserve the right to change the date. Or, you can pay even more money to be even luckier and have the right to cancel without a fee (which you've pretty much already paid). This is a peculiar development and not a positive one from a service perspective, as it's very clear that upselling and cynical profit are the goals. As a customer, I'm put in an unnecessary dilemma where most people will pay for a service they won't use. Alternatively, a hotel room stands empty and the hotel gets paid in full, but a room is lost. I think it's a shame. Disclaimer: I tried to change a hotel room booking over the phone 50 days before it was to be used, which had been booked online. I was rudely told that I couldn't do this because I hadn't paid for it. I followed up by informing them that the previous year, I was cut short by 2 hours at checkout when the hotel was to close for Christmas at 10 am, without this being stated in the booking confirmation, because "it went automatically, so they had nothing to do with it". I care a bit about honesty, so after many years, Scandic and I are done. It's a shame, as Vulkan is a lovely location.
