“Felt at ease and at home the minute we arrived”

The room is charming and elegant. The staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast excellent. Have at least one meal at the hotel's Theater Caffeen. Everything about it was appropriately luxurious. The hotel's location is about the best imaginable.

On May, 2024, a stay at the Hotel Continental was notable for its quality. Initially booked a Deluxe King Room but received an upgrade to a suite with a balcony due to membership in the hotel's loyalty program, adding significant value. The suite was spacious, well-furnished, and offered a balcony. As someone interested in technology, I appreciated the room's TV with an easy-to-use streaming setup that worked well with Android devices, though it hasn't been tested with iOS devices Service was efficient and prompt, with requests fulfilled quickly. The staff were professional and attentive, and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. Previous stays in regular rooms have also proven satisfactory, providing consistent comfort and quality. The hotel's location is convenient, offering easy access to the surrounding area. Overall, the hotel offers great service and comfortable accommodations. Whether staying in a standard room or a suite, the experience is consistently reliable and pleasant.

“Not great.”

While the people at the hotel are absolutely lovely and first class, I'm afraid this old world gem needs a makeover. Rooms and suites are small. While the people at the hotel are absolutely lovely and first class, I'm afraid this old world gem needs a makeover. Rooms and suites are small. Bathrooms are VERY small and the furnishings are dated and need refurbishing. With newer hotels popping up in more vibrant parts of town, the Hotel Continental should definitely renovate to re-establish their place. Discerning travelers would fare better at one of the newer hotels. We left early because our room was dreadfully small and uncomfortable with a view of the construction next door. Incidentally, the construction noise started around 7am every morning which was also a factor in our early departure.

I'm truly fascinated by the excellent reviews of this hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly and the rooms were ready when we arrived around 1pm, which was fabulous. This is where the fabulous ends. We have two rooms; a Junior Suite with balcony and a King room. The rooms aren't great. Furnishings are dark and aged. The bathroom is small and the toilet is right next to the sink, not separated at all, which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I asked for another room because our view is of a building that looks like a prison. The number of maids' carts and vacuums in the hall is crazy. I don't think there are many choices in Oslo and I would say if you are one person , here on business this would be fine. But, for a holiday away... definitely not the place for discerning travelers.
