Our visit did not get off to a great start. We had not been warned about difficulties in parking. We did manage to locate a spot in the guest car park, but we told, really quite abruptly, by the lady at check-in that we would have to move. She was not at all helpful in suggesting alternatives, just giving generalities or even suggesting parking in New World supermarket. This did not set our stay off well. Thankfully her colleagues proved to be more considerate of strangers and provided more detailed guidance. The room itself was very comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant, which had an interesting fusion menu, and the food was very tasty. Breakfast was good, if a little uninspiring compared to other Copthornes. The location of the hotel was great, once you found it, with a nice view of the bay.

“Great Location”

Great location with a lovely view of the harbour. Even though our room felt like living in a shoebox, I still enjoyed the overnight stay. Great location with a lovely view of the harbour. Even though our room felt like living in a shoebox, I still enjoyed the overnight stay. The staff were fantastic even offering a cheerful "hi" when passing in the corridors! That said, the hotel is starting to look a little tired, which is why I’ve given it a 3-star rating. My pillow, unfortunately, had an unpleasant smell, as though someone with oily hair had used it before (though I’ll admit, my nose is very sensitive—perhaps I was a sniffer dog in a past life!). The water pressure in the shower was excellent, which I appreciated. However, as discussed with another guest, we both disliked the rose-style shower head. A handheld shower head on a rail would be a much more modern and practical option. Parking: $30 for 24 hours. While there wasn’t much parking space, I was grateful to secure a spot at the back of the hotel. Restaurant: Breakfast: I enjoyed the variety of food available at breakfast time—it was a great start to the day. Dinner: The restaurant felt quite cold, so I asked if the air conditioning could be adjusted or if we could be seated further from the entrance. The staff said they’d turn up the air conditioning to accommodate me, but I’m not sure if they actually did. Unfortunately, I was told they couldn’t move us as the restaurant was fully booked, though it remained half-full throughout our meal—haha. I was craving a steak, so I ordered the Beef Wellington. While the beef was cooked perfectly and very tasty, I ended up removing the pastry as I’m not a fan of it. That said, the dish itself screamed 1960s or 1970s to me—lol! It would have been great to see a classic steak option on the menu. Overall: I enjoyed the night away and will definitely stay again.
