From the moment I arrived, I felt safe, secure and looked after. A very easy self check in system, with people to assist if needed. My room was large, comfy and clean. A bit dated but nothing to worry about. Being near the lift I was worried about noise but it’s a very quiet place. My bed and the pillows were super comfy. And finally, a return to daily housekeeping - other hotels could take note! I had a beautiful room service meal one night. The employs were all friendly. The location was central and I could walk everywhere I needed to be.

“Shakespeare trip”

Our room was clean, very central to octagon and within walking distance to other attractions were interested in. The staff were very obliging and helpful, good buffet breakfast to start the day. We would use again if ever in Dunedin. Thanks Scenic!

“Just ok, no parking”

My stay at this hotel was just ok. It was hard to find even with Google maps directing me because it's hard to see the sign from the street in a car. Parking was almost impossible in the early evening as the hotel is on a very busy business district street. I was told on check in the only option… more

My stay at this hotel was just ok. It was hard to find even with Google maps directing me because it's hard to see the sign from the street in a car. Parking was almost impossible in the early evening as the hotel is on a very busy business district street. I was told on check in the only options for parking was the street (free after 6 PM) or a garage a few blocks away. The room itself was huge and comfortable. Loud in the early evening with traffic noise, but surprisingly quiet at night and even though I'm sensitive to noises when trying to sleep I didn't have a problem and slept well. In the morning I asked again about parking and a spot in the garage opened up so I took it.

We had a Superior room Double for three nights. The location in central Dunedin gave us walking access to a broad range of delightful eateries. We were also in walking distance to the historic railway station and museum. The room itself was generous but dated. The hotel blurb noted in part it was ‘a stunning contemporary award winning design, with modern facilities’. Unfortunately the bed was quite uncomfortable, the pillows not fit for purpose and the amenities were very dated. Some work is required to match the expectations created in the advertising. On the positive side, the staff we dealt with were polite, engaging and very helpful.
