When I got there I had a shock, a cultural shock, clothes, spoken language, narrow street of the entrance of the Riad. loud speaker from the mosque, calling to prayer at 3:30 am-4:30am. However, we had the best experience these days. Although I was given a twin room, which I had booked with a double bed, the Riad couple was very attentive, clean room with bath towels, hot water and air conditioning, reasonable breakfast, immaculate dinner and terrace .

Small hotel built on three floors with rooftop terrace and open courtyard with tiled fountain. Storks nesting on mosque just feet away. Breakfast included omelette most days with a large roll locally baked and typical of the area. We were the only guests having an evening meal which was served on a coffee table. The food was authentic Moroccan tagine most evenings served with bread, salad and baked vegetables and full of local flavours. The heaters in our room did not work and in January, the evening temperature fell to 8C or below. The restaurant area was not heated so we ate in our fleeces and coats both morning and evening. Our bedroom was freezing cold. The room was otherwise comfortable and quite large as we had paid for twin plus but only one bed was ever made up so one of us just had blankets. The pillows and mattress were badly stained where protectors has not been used. An item of jewellery went missing from a drawer in the room the day before we were to leave. The manager was informed but it was never found.
