DEFINITION OF 5*!!! We have just arrived home after a week at the hotel. We purposely waited until we had left to ensure we experienced everything till the end. Having read reviews on Palm Plaza, it seems that people are quick to either 5* it with no explanation or some just write very petty complaints. So I’m going to be as honestly true and fair across the board. The hotel is under a flight path, like every other 5* hotel in this area, but unless you’re looking for a problem, it’s just not a problem. I convinced myself flights only took off once a week as I only ever saw/heard them when we were on our balcony. It’s incredible to watch! At the pool they’d come into land and it was another game spotting which flights were coming in. But the sound is minimal! I’ve seen references to the hotel being ‘tired’ which I won’t deny. The rooms are massive and perfectly up to date, however if you want to pick then yes, you could say some areas are ‘tired’. Comments such as a small TV do not warrant a comment, you’re on holiday, why are you sitting in watching TV when there is Morocco outside! This leads me onto the hotel bar. TABARAKA and her colleague are just wonderful! We’ve experienced hospitality in both London and the Cotswolds, as well as Europe and Asia, and whilst the standard was the same as UK 5* the attitude and politeness was better. You cannot fault that. TABARAKA made our evenings every time. Regarding the hotel bar ‘entertainment’ feedback….This is one I was sad to see a negative review on. This duo are fabulous! They sing and play passionately every night and stop infrequently for a well deserved break. They play most or every evening with minimal guest support, which they totally deserve. We actually asked the guy if he was able/know how to play a song. He played our request for the first time in English and I was in awe. I actually sobbed a little as it was a song I cremated my sister to. She loved Morocco and having her song played felt very special. They are beautiful performers and deserve nothing but compliments! The bar itself was quiet and walking upstairs to bed, you realise that some/most opted for evenings in their room, which is not what we came to Morocco for! The restaurant food, both dinner and breakfast was varied. Traditional Moroccan, pasta, rice, meat, vegetables, and array of just about everything! You cannot fault the choice. The restaurant is huge and we (typical British) likes the same seat. ISMAIL and his team cared for us every night. By the second day we had our own private 2 person table where the 4 person table should have been. The pool and its lifestyle was better than I imagined. I expected silence, which actually is very awkward, but from mid morning they played some relaxing songs quietly. Hey, I love Adele at any time of day! By the afternoon, the music got a bit louder, but still very good and during this the team would offer water Zumba, water basketball, darts, pétanque, beside the pool ‘feel good dancing’. If you don’t want to get involved, then pack your headphones and ignore the world around you. Simple! I tuned out a few times on my own terms, zoned in and got involved more often than not. Researching Marrakesh before booking, it was clear how things had changed since my parents lived in Casablanca. I read it was ‘the new Ibiza’ and that was a bit worrying. For 35+ year olds. Realising that the Souks had probably changed and that Marrakesh was now probably a tourist spot. It was. Our taxi driver who we found from ABDULthat Marrakesh is epic but the surrounding Burbers are not to be missed. Bottom line is we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Palm Plaza Hotel & Spa. Please ignore any of the reviews if you are out for a beautiful foreign holiday and want to be taken care of. If you want more then none of the 5* holidays are for you. There will always be ‘Karen’s’, but we embraced everything! As for ‘InDrive’….. speak with ABDUL and ask for taxi recommendations. InDrive is not regulated by the tourist government, so be careful! We would love to be back and hope that next year we will. To those I’ve mentioned, I hope that we meet again, you have made our 5* holiday even more 5*! Thank you! (I’m also a military wife and haven’t had any down time with my husband. This has been exactly what we needed)

My wife and I have just returned from an amazing stay away at this hotel. It is truly a 5* venue. The care and attention to detail is extraordinary. By this I mean the effort and welcoming experience you get when you first arrive but the doormen and reception staff is nothing short what we learned to expect from Moroccan hospitality. The effort the gardeners and cleaning staff must go to to maintain such a high standard is outstanding. We met Abdul who I can only really describe as a hotel “rep” - he gave us some amazing information on places to go as well as local “tips” when visiting places such as the medina or just getting a taxi. - he did offer the services of a very reliable and friendly local who was excellent. The hotel room was amazing with all the luxuries you would expect from a venue of this calibre. At first we thought the balcony view facing the road was a downside but actually spending the mornings before breakfast and the late evening watching the hustle and bustle was quite enjoyable. The hotel is below the flight path (as are all the hotels in that area) BUT once inside the room with doors shut you can’t hear anything. Breakfast is a VAST selection and deserves a massive congratulations to the catering team for what must be such a mammoth task to cook such exquisite food day in and day out. My only criticism is I was never quick enough to get to try all the pastries as the other hotel guest got there first. For the British reading this - expect to find some bizarre breakfast choices but I must insist to try it all - embrace the culture The pool although at times seemed busy it never had any of the distaste you expect with this. There is great entertainment if you like a good selection of party anthems and classic songs from the DJ and if you have the urge try some aqua aerobics or water Zumba it was great fun, I highly recommend getting involved. The Bar pool does get busy so don’t expect immediate service BUT the staff go out of their way to be as friendly, helpful and facilitated any requests we had with smiles on their faces…. The food and drinks are 100% worth the wait. Evening meals were an interesting selection of Moroccan, French, Italian…. I assume this is to cater for the clientele and I would have preferred to see a lot more Moroccan food for the evening meal but I am only once guest. and again as with breakfast the standard was always amazing and the taste especially of the tagines each night were SUPERB! And let’s not forgot the desserts. yum is the only word I can use to describe them. I really want to make special mention of ISMAIL who during our evening meal was so accommodating and funny and kept us entertained. We typically went for the same table each night and he was always very helpful and by the end of the week had set a personal table in our spot for us… such a great guy. Thank you. The evenings when not down at the roof top bars can be happily spent in the bar listening to the beautiful Melodies of the couple who performed there each and every night…. Sadly to a very small audience but that did not dampen their talent or enthusiasm. I firmly believe the bar staff made our evening experiences even more enjoyable. The effort they put into making beautiful cocktails and the standard of their service is impeccable. It was nice but at the same time disappointing to see the bar so quiet in the evenings but understandably that is when Marrakech itself is even more lively so maybe the draw of the nightlife in the city was too much for some. TABARAKA - We want you to know personally you made our holiday so much more enjoyable with your friendly smile and outstanding service. And the pictures you took for us are a great memory. Thank you ever so much. Overall when comparing this hotel to other 5* hotels around the world we have stayed at then yes you can find room for improvement but one thing you can never fault is Moroccan hospitality, hard work and their talents for great food, great company and greater smiles and this hotel offers this in abundance. If you are visiting Morocco I will 100% recommend this hotel - make sure you speak to Abdul for the best advice, let Ismail make you laugh after a long day in the medina and relax in the bar with one of Tabaraka’s amazing cocktails.
