After walking through a small door Les Jardins de Medina opens up into a wonderful quiet relaxing place to stay. If sitting around a pool is not your thing then there are plant of little seating areas located in the garden areas. The staff were brilliant, friendly, attentive with excellent customer service. The breakfast buffet was very good, and the lunch, snack and evening meal menus had plenty of variety to choose, excellently prepared and decent portion sizes. We had booked a room with a small terrace and then steps up to the private sun terrace. The room was a decent size, the bed huge and extremely comfortable. I like to stay in places with a gym and the one here was an open air facility, with some cardio machines and free weights. We loved our time here and certainly hope to return for another relaxing holiday.

We were thrilled with our decision to stay here. The pool never felt crowded and is perfectly sized and apportioned. The beautifully green and lush interior, complete with a bubbling fountain and floating fresh flower petals, was a welcome respite after a busy day exploring. Les Jardins is well designed and well maintained. Its charm and character differentiate it from a generic luxury chain that might score closer to perfection while falling short on personality. Staff were professional and friendly without exception. Our sultana room was spacious, with windows opening to the swaying green leaves of trees and a fresh breeze floating over ample outdoor seating that spread over two sides. (It did require ascending a short flights of winding stairs.) It is a 15-20 minute walk to many of the main sights (Bahia Palace etc.) but we always welcomed the interesting walk and enjoyed being nestled away from the sounds and rush of the Jemmaa el-Fnna.

“Nice hotel with attentive staff, but poor food and guests.”

The location is random: at the back of a government building on the way in, or via a dirty, smelly Marrakesh back street on the other. The hotel has tiredness issues: the door is hard to close, and guests slam it loudly while walking away. The windows and shutters don’t close properly, so the room is never secure, and you hear outside noises, including a guest making a phone call on speaker at 7 a.m. The room was comfortable with a nice bed and a small seating area near the TV. However, only two English news channels were available, so it wasn’t a major issue. One issue was a bathroom window that opened to the street, with a street light outside all night since the bathroom door didn’t shut. The buffet-style and egg station breakfast was nice, but the other four meals had issues. The tajine was cold, and the lamb dish was iffy (meant to be shank was actually neck). The staff handled the issues well, but we left disappointed and hungry.
