My college son and his 5 friends who are studying abroad in Italy booked a tour online out of Marrakech. Right from the beginning the students were scammed in the market by vendors and a nefarious snake charmer. Then a driver scammed them for $400E. The girls in the group were relentlessly catcalled the first day and decided they felt unsafe to sleep in the desert in a tent so they canceled the online tour. The students began looking into returning to Italy. That is when I called Youseff, the Concierge at Le Meridian. Youseff saved the trip by planning 2 days of lifetime memories for the students! His trips were safe, professional and spectacular! The students had the time of their lives!! Their pictures and their memories were fantastic! We are Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and Youseff exceeded everyone’s expectations—the parents and the students! He stayed in close communication with the students and followed up to make sure their experience was great! All 6 students love Youseff, Marrakech and will never forget this experience. My husband and I look forward to meeting Youseff and staying at the Le Meriden soon ourselves! Youseff took a personal interest in the students, their safety and their amazing trip. Saturday Youseff arranged transportation to the desert, a camel ride, tea in the desert, dinner and brilliant show! Sunday, again he arranged transportation to the Atlas Mountains, a beautiful hike and lunch in the Oracle Valley then transportation to the airport. Everything was perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you Youseff!! You went above and beyond to make this experience in Morocco a wonderful lifetime memory!!

“Not as terrible as I thought it might be”

Having read the generally negative reviews, particularly from Bonvoy members with status benefits, I felt trepidation when checking in. But, my experience was a bit better than expected! As a Titanium member I received a modest and seemingly begrudging ‘upgrade’ from a standard room to a ‘Premium’ room in the so-called Atlas building. Effectively, it was a standard room that had been recently partially renovated. The bathroom however had not been renovated and looked ancient, complete with a leaky sink and a bath in lieu of a shower. Reception staff were surly but efficient enough. I appreciated being shown to my room in person since the property is split over several buildings. A standout for me was the friendly gentlemen who manage the lobby bar in the evenings. They made it very enjoyable to relax with a glass of surprisingly good Moroccan wine. The pool was freezing cold (absolutely unusable) which was a surprise and a disappointment given the price point of the property. There is no indoor pool, nor a members lounge. We skipped the spa altogether due in part to the poor reviews here on TripAdvisor, and in part due to the astonishingly loud renovation work being completed adjacent to the spa entrance. Wi-fi was good. I was able participate in zoom calls without any issues whatsoever. The cleaners were particularly friendly and efficient. I pity them, trying to keep such a tired property clean. Credit to them. Overall, my stay was a little better than I hoped, however if I wasn’t wed to Bonvoy, I’d hesitate to return. Completing partial refurbishments of these tired hotel rooms is akin to putting lipstick on a pig.

We had a pleasant stay at Le Meridien N’Fis and were pleased to be assigned a recently renovated room. The hotel’s location is excellent, just a 20-minute walk to the historic center and conveniently close to a shopping mall. The property is currently undergoing renovations, and while our room was updated, it still had several flaws. For instance, the bathroom appeared to have been left out of the renovation process. We appreciated the thoughtful gesture of the fruit basket and the beautiful Marrakech cup, which added a nice personal touch to our stay. As Titanium members, we were hoping to enjoy access to the lounge, but unfortunately, it was not operational during our visit. Overall, the hotel has potential but would greatly benefit from more attention to detail in both the renovations and the guest experience.

“Average Hotel for the Le Meridien /Marriot Bonvoy standards”

Pros - Drinks in the reception while you wait to be checked in. -The GM came to our room to welcome us after we arrived.That was nice. -Some House Keepers really helpful. -Hotel staff at the pool side Restaurant are very helpful. - Hotel is opposite the Mall, were we ate most of the time. Cons - On arrival (20/08/24)went to the Span.Span staff (A lady) quite happy to ignore me. -Another set of House Keepers that do some checks - rude coming into our room unexpectedly. - Breakfast food choice the same everyday.They appear to be a bit stingy with serviettes as well. -Pool staff are helpful, but it depends on who you meet on the day, -Hotel does not accept Monzo,Thankfully I had my other bank cards. -No milk offered in the rooms.Had to keep asking for things to be restocked. -Male receptionist literally shouting at me on date of check out because I interrupted him and another guest ,that was checking in.The lack of professionalism displayed left a very sour taste to my mouth. Conclusion: Not worth it.We will go some where else next time.
