We had a very enjoyable stay at the Le Meridien Marrakech. Our room certainly was outdated, but it was clean and comfortable. I think the different experiences noted has everything to do with expectations and the price paid. The location is a nice respite from the Medina. The Medina is a short taxi ride or leisurely walk from the hotel. The mall across the street has some restaurants. Even better restaurants can be found up the street at the M Avenue retail center. (Try modern Moroccan at the rooftop resto Le Douar.) As noted, the pool and gardens are beautiful. The pool was never crowded during our stay. The buffet breakfast was very nice with plentiful options. Omelette station and Moroccan pancake station (Baghrir) provided some custom options. The coffee machines provided more than adequate espressos, cappuccinos and lattes. You can enjoy breakfast on the garden patio or inside. We found the staff to be very accommodating and friendly. There is a gentlemen at the lobby bar who was really great. If you want a cocktail made a certain way be sure to tell him and don't assume it's made the way you are familiar with at home.

“Great stay”

Big, comfortable and in a very good location with an extensive garden and swimming pool area. Very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Walking distance to the Medina and opposite a new shopping centre. Easy access to and from airport.

First, I must echo some of the most recent comments about the renovation the property is undergoing. When I originally selected this property, I used Marriott directly. It did not indicate the property was under renovation. Nevertheless, we still stayed here after learning about the Reno and there were positives and negatives. First, the lobby area is lovely. There is a great fragrance pumped in that we instantly enjoyed. The seating and appointments are well taken care of with plenty of places to sit. There are two house made alternatives for beverages offered daily. We didn’t care for the cucumber water but the lemonade was very tasty most days. (I say most as a few days it was not good!) We knew to ask for a renovated room and that was ready when we arrived. The main portion of the room was nice. It was sort of modern with two closets and drawers sufficient for the two of us to spread out. There was plenty of seating and a large TV. The TV’s allowed for casting from your personal device which was very welcomed. The Juliet balcony was nothing worth mentioning. It did seem very old. Next the bathroom was filled with character. It’s clear it was not renovated but wasn’t in bad shape. It was clean on arrival and housekeeping was consistent and kept our space well cleaned and smelling nicely. They paid attention to our initial requests and didn’t require us to keep asking. They began to anticipate our needs. The renovation was surprisingly not intrusive upon our stay. There were 2 building completely shut down for construction but we didn’t hear much and didn’t find it disturbing. Now- don’t mistake that for saying NO noise, but it was faint and very well controlled in my opinion. All in all, a good stay. Comfortable and extremely convenient in its location. I would give 4 stars here with space to say it could be 3.5 depending on your personal experience (individual room) and how the construction impacts you. I would exercise caution in the years to come if the bathrooms aren’t updated.while adequate now, it won’t be long before they cannot escape need for updates.

Prior to spending a night at this property, I read many reviews and knew what to look for and expect upon arrival. The hotel is dated but undergoing renovations and repairs. Nonetheless, those areas already “renovated” should probably get another look since the approac taken appears to be a mix of what is salvageable from the old and desired from the new. Bathrooms have old tubs, sinks, toilets and mirrors, but painted walls and a few new trinkets (yes, water pressure was an issue). The main room was well appointed but the balcony was old, dried and somewhat rotten wood railings that were painted over. Paint splatter was an issue throughout the room. Modern improvements much as USB ports were no where to be found…not even a clock (digital or otherwise). Not sure of the hotel’s strategy, but the cost savings associated with “cover up renovation” will likely result in guests not coming back since they are that noticeable and make you wonder “why”. The grounds, on the other hand, are very nice and the pool is great, relaxing and inviting. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful…always smiling and trying to anticipate your thoughts and needs to make your stay memorable. It will be interesting to see how this property looks after the “renovations”… we stayed in a newly renovated room/wing and it was easy to notice how much of the old was kept and tried to make new. As a note, location is ideal…across the street from a busy mall and a 25-minute easy walk to the Medina…or take a horse-drawn carriage that trot in front of the hotel as part of their route.
