My husband and I are La Sultana devotees for life. After spending a week among their two Moroccan properties: Marrakech and Oualidia, we can confidently assure La Sultana’s service level is the best you will find. As world travelers, we have invested in stays at properties who don’t hold a candle to the brightness of these two hotel locations. The most impressive attribute of La Sultana is the attentiveness of her staff. We won’t remember everyone’s names to include here (although we were always greeted by name whenever we encountered anyone at La Sultana). Of specific note in Marrakech were Miriam, Naime, Saida, and Anas, but all members of the La Sultana family made us feel completely valued. When we left the Marrakech hotel midweek for a few days at La Sultana Oualidia, I felt as if I were leaving a part of myself behind. The Marrakech team had completely captured my heart and soul. The consolation arrived in Oualidida with the first-class service from Hannan, Omama, Mufasa, Mohammed, Hussein, Rafik, Walid, Masoud, and Abdul. Every detail is considered, and excellence is the standard. The facilities are both uniquely beautiful with sophistication and charm beyond compare. As we learned from Moroccan architecture, “the beauty is on the inside,” and inside the heart of La Sultana is her people. Stretching our stay in Morocco between the two La Sultana properties created the perfect vacation experience for us. La Sultana arranged our transfers between Marrakech and Oualidia for a completely stress-free transition. Although the two locations have completely different atmospheres, the level of excellence is consistent. Checking in and never leaving the riad would have been a full experience with the pools, the spas, the cooking classes, the yoga instruction, the deliciously prepared meals (the sommeliers on staff made our exploration of Moroccan wines effortless and delightful). However, getting out and exploring is part of the charm. La Sultana’s excursions are delivered with intention. In Marrakech, we were assisted with outside dinner reservations and local market tours. At Oualidia, we were led through Safi (Morocco’s pottery capital), guided through yoga and pilates on the lawn, and explored countless species of birds on an educational tour of the lagoon. Within minutes of sharing we’d be taking a walk along the Atlantic, we were provided with freshly filled water bottles (no plastic!) and a backpack with towels. Both properties provided an in-house iPhone with concierge access if we had any needs while off property. Whenever we returned, we were warmly greeted with a genuine interest in what we had discovered and what we might need. We will return to Morocco, and we will always plan our stay around La Sultana. If home is where the heart is, La Sultana is like home.
