For the second time, my husband and I stayed at the Suites Sofia in Queretaro, Mexico and this time, we stayed for one whole month! The attention at this hotel is still very friendly; we were greeted every morning and evening by either Fernando Sr. or Fernando Jr., who would do everything possible to make your stay a very pleasant one. Our one bedroom, fully equipped suite with kitchenette, great for long stays, was always very well kept by Rosy and Laura, who would work fully even while expecting a new baby! We hope she and the baby are doing well. The weather in Queretaro is so great that daily we could enjoy the beautiful terrace with the 360 degrees view, which in the evening is very special. Ah, how do we miss the beautifully lit church cupolas, historical buildings and the twinkling lights of the houses on the surrounding hills! Suites Sofia are located in the lively 5 de Mayo Street in the heart of the Historical Centre of this UNESCO Heritage city. They are with-in walking distance to the historical buildings and the many beautiful squares (some with free WI FI) filled with shady trees, aromatic lavender, dancing fountains, flowers and relaxing benches. These squares are delightful places for watching people or for having a delicious meal at the many restaurants surrounding them. On the weekends you can enjoy the many musical concerts and other events provided for free by the government. The city band plays every Sunday at the big square with the romantic and old fashioned “kiosk” where you can even take dancing lessons of the famous “Danzon”. We would highly recommend Suites Sofia for a long or short stay, where you will be well taken care off in a modern and well equipped hotel with nice linens and comfy beds but most of all be greeted by a caring staff in one of Mexico’s most successful cities. My husband and I spend 21 fabulous days in Queretaro! This is a Mexican UNESCO Heritage City with plenty of pedestrian cobbled stone streets and many quaint squares filled with plants, benches, fountains and WI-FI. Yes, you can reach the Internet, while enjoying the pleasant weather, the music and the people passing by. We stayed at the Suites Sofia in the heart of the Historical Centre and with-in walking distance to all the important historical and recreational sites. We enjoyed our stay in a spacious bachelor apartment with a kitchenette, dinning/living room, a very comfortable king size bed with beautiful linens and a full big shower bathroom. The complementary Internet and local and Mexican long distance phone calls allowed us to work and connect with family and friends. As typical of Queretaro, from the outside this hotel is only a big door and a window but once you enter, you discover, behind the beautiful wrought iron gate, eight well appointed suites, all with kitchenettes just excellent for a long stays. Some of the suites have their own terrace but for the others, on the roof, they have a big sunny terrace with an all around view of beautiful Queretaro with its many colonial church cupolas. Domingo, Fernando Sr. and Fernando Jr. take care of the welcoming hotel reception. They are friendly, open the door for you and are always willing to help in what it is needed. They all speak naturally not only Spanish but also English and French. The daily hotel service is covered by Laura and Rosy, who with their smiles, respectful friendliness and cleanliness make a joy to enter your room. We just felt like at home! We certainly recommend staying at the Suites Sofia www.suites-sofia.com Our stay was such a success that we are planning to come back next year!

Our stay at Suites Sofia was wonderful. The location made our stay that more awesome in Queretaro. We were within walking distance from everything. The weather here is wonderful and made our walks that much more pleasant. The gentlemen, Fernando Sr and Fernando Jr were wonderful. At night the gates were closed and we felt secure and safe. If gates were closed when we arrived late, they were available to let us in - no matter the time. The beds were comfy, showers were clean and although we didn't cook, the kitchen area was ready and waiting to be used. The nearby church did have firecrackers going. After the 2nd night we didn't even hear them. We hope to be back soon and book our stay here instead of a hotel like Holiday Inn or Hilton. This was a true rustic feel. Precioso el lugar.

You think your going into someone's home. You could be right. This is a converted home with only a handful of rooms. What surprised me the most was the uber friendliness of the owner and his son. The rooms are large, nicely appointed with good showers and a small kitchenette. My only complaint was the totally hard bed which gave me much difficulty to sleep the first night. Too HARD. But you get over it due to the great location, close to good restaurants and many sightseeing wonders. Would go back, just need a softer bed

Like most hotels in old town Queretaro this is a converted old house in a great location. It is set right in downtown within a few minutes walk from restaurants, bars and most of the the wonderful sights this beautiful city has to offer. The rooms are big, have kitchens and very comfortable beds. Showers have great water pressure. Staff is very courteous and nice. The hotel is quiet in spite of its location, and has a rooftop with a nice view. They still have quaint customs such as big keys for rooms, and they lock the gates in the evening (no problem, you ring the bell and they open for you). You feel in the old Mexico. Rooms may or may not have much in terms of windows. There are a couple of suites downstairs where the toilette is 5 ft from the bed separated of it only by a 4 ft wall. It is NOT enclosed, so this may be a major deal-breaker if you are a couple. There is zero privacy in the toilette. As long as you don't get one of those, open toilette, suites your stay will be very good. Tip for hotel management: the dishes and glasses in the cupboards were very dirty. Please make sure they are properly washed.
