Thanks to “Maui” and the dining room staff for their kindness and attention! Breakfasts in the court yard of the hotel was great way to start our days. Merida is a magical city and the hotel is located in the heart of it.

We flew into Merida airport for the first time and liked the small size with fast customs upon entry. Stayed at Casa del B for two nights before heading out for our travels. Five states in five weeks for our driving adventure! Location is everything in Merida and we were right by several parks! Unfortunately there is a lot of road construction going on in town. The hotel has two small elevators and only one goes up to floor 6. Just quirky. There are many interesting antiques and artwork all around. The courtyard has a fountain, and a small dining area. The room was basic but well worth the bargain price per night. There is a refrigerator, blow dryer and soft towels, although no hand towel in the room. The pillows were hard but the mattress in our room was VERY comfortable and that is most important for us. The staff is friendly and helpful. It was nice to see that Diego still works there. We have stayed here before and had a newer room on a previous visit, but you get what you pay for! The windows do not open and there was a musty smell in the room, but the a c helped with the odor. Parking was available for a small fee. Most impressive though, was all the custom iron work. The light fixtures, headboard, and mirror trim was all hand formed. Even the lampshade was hand painted. The doors and furniture had heavy wood trim, and the closet doors were fancy. The attached restaurant has recently been updated too. It was a great value for our short stay. Btw it is across from the theatre which had a fire and is not open. The symphony was moved to a smaller theatre. I really hope they can restore it, it was so beautiful.

The rooms are ample and have air conditioning and a refrigerator. There is no restaurant on site or free breakfast included, but it is connected to the Bistrola 57. The staff are pleasant, and the place is clean. It is perfectly located: two blocks from the Plaza Grande, so it's not noisy (except sometimes when they have live music), but within easy walking distance of everything--dining, shopping, transportation. A couple of small quirks: our room was a bit musty-smelling, and it turned out to be something in the air conditioning. They brought us a fan, and we were fine. Wifi tends to be not terribly reliable, which was a bit frustrating. I would definitely come back here to stay while in Merida.

We loved this hotel. So historical and quaint. Customer service from the staff was top notch. We loved our room. It was so pretty. Why I gave it 3 stars. Our room didn't have a fridge or TV remote as it stated. I never inquired about the fridge because we had other issues going on. We did get a remote. We the problem with our room was, the air conditioner kept leaking and we had a flood on the floor. It was difficult to walk around it because was in the little hallway in front of the bathroom. It also flooded the closet. Maintenance came up several times. We asked for another room but they said they would fix it. It never got fixed. So we had a bucket all week in the hall to catch the water. I was a little disappointed because I wished they moved us because it never was fixed. Also if you like hard beds and pillows, these beds are perfect for you. Also 2 days before we were to depart, we had no hot water. After letting them know, they resolved the issue at some point in rhe day. If the staff weren't so friendly and nice I could have been more demanding about the inferior room. Would I stay here again. Absolutely. Great location and wonderful staff. If our room hadn't had the issues I would have given it five stars.
