3 of us in Tanjung wing Seaview room for 3 nights ( booked Kinabalu Seaview but upgraded ❤️) view was amazing day and night, especially sunset view. We never wanted to leave room. Swimming pool was very old so very deep but big enough space for us to know where to stand . And water was very clean so we swam every day. Beach was not clean and sand was not fine so dipped in but out quickly. The best was breakfast ( as usual Shangri-La style ! ) noodle stand , omelette station, fresh juice , sushi, Asian desserts, Malay tea. Sunset bar one afternoon for nice satay and cocktails. Walked to Tanjung beach and market one day. The beach access to market closed by hotel but when we came out of main entrance , we can turn right and wiggle through car park to get back to beach and walkway was quite good. Grab to airport or town about 10 to 17 ringgit. Small fruit bowl in the room was filled up daily.

This resort offers some of the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever seen, truly making it one of Kota Kinabalu’s top spots for sunset views. The expansive grounds and warm, welcoming atmosphere create a luxurious oasis that allows for complete relaxation. My room was spacious and comfortable, with incredible sea views that made the stay even more memorable. Also, I appreciate the convenience of accessing the water sports directly from the private jetty - oh and there’s plenty to do from jet ski, reef walking and parasailing. Dining wise, I truly experience at the Chinese restaurant. The seafood was fresh and taste pretty high standards. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a beach resort but Shangri-La Tanjung Aru surely had set a high benchmark. I would eagerly return to enjoy this exceptional retreat again. Highly recommended.

“Amazing Birthday stay!”

Originally booked the rooms at Kinabalu wing, but was invited to bid and managed to successfully upgrade to connecting Horizon rooms. It was a great choice, as we were well taken off at the Horizon lounge. Thanks Christina and team for taking good care of our family! The cost of the stay was pricey, especially as it coincided with Golden Week. But it was money well spent considering the facilities and great service. The highlight here is really the service - staff seemed genuine in wanting to help you and were pro-active to ask if you needed help or wanted to clean your rooms. My husband's birthday cake was waiting for us at the room when we came back. We alternated between breakfast at the main cafe Tatu (when we managed to wake up early) and Horizon Lounge (when it was a bit later in the morning, to avoid the crowds which many reviews here earlier have stated). As our flight was very early on our last day, it was a pity that we could not have breakfast at the Lounge again and utilise the late check-out at 6pm. The sunset at the beach here was indeed the highlight of the stay, and we together with the other guests would just snap photos endlessly. There are many in-house facilities like the pool, kids' club, recreation room, VR room and mini cinema. Food was good too, recommend Coco Joe's or the in-room dining if you don't feel like heading out for dinner. Do check out the Clownfish Discovery Centre as well at the edge of the resort. The only improvement made would perhaps be the wear and tear of some the furniture in the room. The wood cabinets are showing their age and there are some markings in the bathtub. Do consider also allowing access for guests to head down to the public beach and night markets directly via the currently locked gate at Tanjung wing. Its inconvenient for families to walk there via the main road outside the resort. All in all, it was a great stay and we will back for sure!

We have just spent a week at this resort. What a fabulous hotel! The hotel is large yet it still feel personal. It is spotless and every member of staff from front desk to the lifeguards at the pools were so very friendly and couldn1t do enough for you The hotel is quite isolated and you cannot walk into the main town. However you can get a Grab taxi to get into town which are very cheap and it only takes approx 10/ 15minutes where you can find some great restaurants Rooms are fabulous, large and spacious. We were lucky to be in room 9715 which had a view of the sunset from our balcony to die for! The bed was large and soo comfortable Room facilities were excellent; safe, iron, coffee machine, kettle, fridge, Balcony was a good size with amazing views Bathroom was a good size with both a walk in shower and a fantastic large bath and enough towels to arm a small army. Every evening approx 6pm, staff came to the room to ensure that we had enough clean towels, coffee etc. Excellent service Facilities in the resort are excellent. An adult only pool as well as a childs pool with slides with sunbeds and pool towels always available Spa Lounge Bar as well as a Beach Bar and Sunset bar A number of restaurants including a Chinese restaurant and buffet Hotel own jetty to get you to outlying islands( chargeable) Breakfast was excellent but very very busy!!! Our only complaint was that as fast as food was being brought out people were like locusts and taking plates full which I appreciate that the hotel cannot be responsible for guests behaviour but there were times where we had to wait and wait for food. The food itself was good with great choices when you got it! This was the same experience at the International Buffet evening and show. My husband and I got to the restaurant as it opened at 6pm but it was a shambles on the night we went. Again it was other guests being greedy taking 5/6 lobsters/ crabs and steaks at a time, really no need to do this! We paid a lot of money for very little as we could not see the show either as people were crowding round the artists. Very disappointed! There needs to be a better system to stop people being greedy. Fine if people eat the food that they take but we saw loads of food just being left which was so frustrating. There should be a limit on the number of lobsters/ steaks that people take so everyone can enjoy what is on offer I did make complaint along with a few other people who felt the same as we did but we got no feedback which was disappointing. However , overall this is an excellent place to stay and we would not hesitate to return. Just feel that the buffet breakfast and dinners need some attention so everyone can enjoy it
