This hotel is great if you have 3 adults or 2 kids because of the family room. Travelling with grandparents too, so the hotel gave the same floor and the room next door. They even remember what you like/ don't like (eg noise) and room you accordingly. Beds are comfy and rooms are clean as well as stylish in design. I like the location as it is walkable to almost everywhere once you figure out the streets. Carpark is free for guests. Best of all, the staff are pleasant especially the door men/ concierge. Overall: A wonderful stay right smack in the center of the heritage site of Penang island. There are a few malls literally next to the hotel. Small eatery across the hotel (non halal foods). Walking distance to many local heritage sites. Bring an umbrella (if you’re walking on foot). There’s room service for this hotel if you are lazy to go out to eat. Check In: We were lucky to be allowed for an early check in. The room was already assigned via the mobile app (Shangri-la) check in. Very straight forward check-in process. Took less than 3 mins. Friendly & professional staff. Parking: If you’re driving to Penang, this hotel provides free parking for in house guests. You’ll need to validate your parking ticket each time you’re to exit the parking lot with concierge. (The only thing is that there’s no elevator for the basement so you’ll need to either drop your bags at the main lobby prior to entering the parking or else you’ll have to hurdle those bags up the stairs. Bear in mind if you’re staying with any elders or disabled person, it will be best to drop them off at the lobby ahead and vice versa.) Room: We stayed at 1310 at the executive room. Spacious with an additional powder room. We had the sofa bed made ready which was great. Very comfortable beds. AC works very well. There’s some loud banging that goes on every hour or so. I think there’s the staff elevator or something close by so please don’t be alarmed if you hear a loud thud every now and then. Bathroom: A little small for the room size. Two sinks at the bathroom. However, please be very careful of the taps. The hot water and cold water were switched on the taps. Hot water was coming through when you switch to cold water. HOTEL PLS TAKE NOTE ON THIS. Shower was inside the bath so it can be slippery. There’s a toilet next to the bath/shower with a bidet. Pros: Spacious room. Amazing location. Nice beddings. Cons: Small bathroom. Water tap (at the bathroom is incorrect) No elevator for the parking basement. Tips: Ask for city view/street view. Ask for high floor. Check in via mobile app. (Still need to present yourself upon arrival but it will save your time!)
