Good stay here in the Victory Annexe wing. Room was decent although dated, however service needs to be improved. Pros: - great location and lovely view - there is a shop in the hotel which also sells medication - reception, door and spa staff are friendly and helpful - great atmosphere in bar in the Heritage Wing, Nawil made great cocktails and accommodated requests off menu - room was clean and generally well equipped, although our safe box was faulty and decor was dated Cons: - we were misled at check in about the breakfast options. We were told downstairs only offers international cooked food and specifically told there is no continental breakfast downstairs, and this is only offered on floor 6. When we decided to see what was offered downstairs on our last day we were surprised to see a continental offering that was in fact significantly larger than the options offered on floor 6. Floor 6 was also very empty and I suspect they were trying to increase traffic, but this meant we missed out on the full breakfast offering for the majority of our stay - staff in floor 6 restaurant are inattentive and offhand. We ate dinner here on our first day and had to constantly ask the waiters to have our orders placed and then ask for our food. They also forgot our side. Food was average. We did not dine here again except for breakfast

This was a lovely hotel in a great location. The rooms were large and facilities good. The breakfast buffet could be accessed on 2 floors and offered a good selection. It is a huge hotel though and it therefore misses that personal touch so often found in Malaysia. Despite being on the 12th floor my room was noisy and I was woken each morning at silly o’clock by the call to prayer.

Staying and eating here is a good experience. You get a taste of colonialism, the local food and western food. Some positive things: The staff always helped with the bags. Nice Views The buffet had made to order food sections which includes char keow teow. Get that here if you don't want to go to a street vendor for this plus its included with your hotel stay. Some negative things: The reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was because the service was not always exceptional. For example the doorman didn't always open the door us. Compared to other nice hotels in Malaysia, that is actually terrible. The made to order stuff was nice, but for those who want a western breakfast, the quality of their western food items in the buffet didn't seem that great.

Stayed at the Corner Suite. Whats been nice.. - Food is food, especially breakfast - Spacious Room - Nice sea views - large and clean balcony What can be improved on.. - Service and Attentiveness of Staff. If this is a 5-star hotel, staff should remember customers. Only the porters at the entrance seem to remember the customer and even their critical plans (one staff even knew I had a return airport transfer) - Mattress in bad condition - a number of things require repairs Whats not so good - Location is at the fringe. Its a bit challenging to walk to anywhere in georgetown especially in this hot weather. Not close to any other shops or attractions. Although it has been a rather decent stay, the price it charges are significant (even when I got it for a discount), many areas still need to be looked at.
