This hotel is in my top 5 of my the best places I’ve stayed! I do not understand why this hotel is not designated as a “small luxury hotel”. The service was fabulous, location ideal, wonderful food, and the atmosphere is stunning. I loved every little detail…whether it was using the bikes for free, able to see the morning monk alms outside the hotel, the welcome drink, breakfast, and decor. This place really made our trip feel special. I would also recommend the private Mekong River sunset cruise and order take out food from the restaurant. Enjoyed the pool, bar, and recommendations from the staff.

Outstanding property with a fascinating history, extended but so tastefully the original building had to be pointed out to us. Elegant, well appointed and well serviced cool rooms in lao/French colonial style with many tasteful art pieces as well as well integrated modern bathrooms. The restaurant at the heart of the small compound was a delight to visit, a great dinner here (and although expensive by local standards by no means at European prices). Breakfast outstanding, quick and personal service and a well organised and friendly team. Take some time in the library, cool and dark on a hot day and full of art and good books. A poolside afternoon was a delight, shady and with a good poolside bar ready to serve. Location could not be better, quiet but only 10 mins walk from what is now a very busy town (we last went in 2018 and the completion of the Chinese railway is starting to and will alter the character or Luang Prabang.

A beautiful property, with lots of colour and style. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. We didn’t order anything else and found that the prices comparatively higher. A beautiful property, with lots of colour and style. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. We didn’t order anything else and found that the prices comparatively higher. Two downsides were poor WiFi connectivity and small defects in our rooms (e.g. toilet door didn’t close). The main attractions are 15-20mt walk away.

“Nice boutique style hotel in convenient location”

Two night stay post Upper Mekong cruise. Hotel well located a short walk from the centre and one block from the river. A beautiful colonial style rambling building, with well maintained gardens and two pools. Has a lovely feel, with interesting areas, courtyards, decorative pools and interior touches. We felt however, that the hotel is starting to need some investment, not to run the risk of crossing from boutique to run down. Staff, without exception, friendly and so helpful. Breakfast was adequate but a little limited with fixed items, and a la carte for eggs, pancakes etc. We did eat dinner in the restaurant one night, and enjoyed it very much. For us a couple of negatives. We found our room dark and dingy. Poor lighting, and heavy furniture didn’t help. Bathroom layout poor, and would benefit from a shaving mirror and somewhere to put toiletries in the shower. The air conditioning, and bed/linen comfort were however excellent. The nature of the building and wooden floors meant that we got significant noise from the guests above. On one night, a late group checking in, then moving around, meant we were awake two hours. Only a short term issue, but noteworthy if you are staying in the coming months, is that there is building construction on two sides of the main pool area. At times this gave a lot of noise, banging, staple guns etc. Just good to be aware if its important during your stay, to spend some time relaxing around the pool. That aside, given the location in the town, there was very little road noise in general, so this is a situation that will hopefully resolve itself when construction is complete.
