“Location and convenience”

A really impressive addition is the phone charger although the message on it is a bit abrupt. Reception area is very nice and hotel is located next to shopping centre with a supermarket as well as a couple of small mini markets. There are also buses as well as a train station

“Convenient location, clean, but smells like cigarettes”

Very good location considering it's right next to JR Shizuoka Station, and also surrounded by couple of different convenience stores. Easy walk to Shizuoka City Central. Very good location considering it's right next to JR Shizuoka Station, and also surrounded by couple of different convenience stores. Easy walk to Shizuoka City Central. The only downside for me was that even non-smoking rooms smelled really badly of cigarettes. Right after check-in, I requested to change the rooms, and hotel staff came up to the room to check herself if it smells like cigarettes. Even though she couldn't smell it herself, she still changed the room for me. But then the newly placed non-smoking room also smelled like cigarettes... I just decided to stay but if I had any respiratory conditions, I would not have been able to. Other than this part, my experience at this hotel was pleasant.

Good points: Overall room size and services acceptable Reasonable size room and bathroom Good location two minutes from JR Shizuoka Station Close to restaurants/shops Ground floor houses breakfast and lunch restaurants (other restaurants also on site, but smallish and we could not get a table). Substantial breakfast- Western and Far East choices Reasonable common areas on ground floor – but most taken over by restaurant space Negative points: Service variable – initial allocation of smoking rooms (asked for non smoking) dealt with reasonably quickly, but poor service in lunch/afternoon tea restaurant and reception failed to take seriously concerns raised regarding maintenance issues including dangerous light fittings.

“Nice But Not What You’d Expect From a 5 Star Property”

Our room was spotless except for the carpet which was full of spots that looked like they would have come out easily with a simple steam cleaning. Our room was spotless except for the carpet which was full of spots that looked like they would have come out easily with a simple steam cleaning. Rooftop bar was deserted but the hostess sat us directly next to a large table which she said was reserved for a large group who she said would be noisy (huh?!). The bar has some decent wines but you have to ask for the wine menu - no wine is listed on the drink menu. All drinks are expensive. Bartender disappeared after serving us even though we were still the only two people in the bar and one of us is Japanese.
