Generous room with Tatami living area, hotel incl. large Onsen (separate hot springs for men and women). Outstanding service, incl two high end, high quality restaurants (sushi and western). Great location in Hakone close to Sounzan station for ropeway (cable car to lake Ashi) accessed via Hyatt shuttle van, as is Gora station for mountain train to Odawara Shinkansen. Highly recommended for a treat!

“Peaceful Retreat away from the city!”

Visited for our first time in Japan mid-trip away from the city for our anniversary. Amenities of room exceeded our expectations and we really didn’t need to pack much. Visited for our first time in Japan mid-trip away from the city for our anniversary. Amenities of room exceeded our expectations and we really didn’t need to pack much. Yukatas and footwear provided to use around resort and for sleeping at night allowed us to limit laundry. Our server Nana along with the chefs at the sush restaurant onsite were great and food was worth what we paid and fresh. We went back to eat there a second night during our stay. Service to pick us up and drop off to Odawara station was convenient and also to/from Gora station. Only downside was onsen wasn’t in service for 2 days due to weather damage to hotel piping. Otherwise, a great trip overall! Definitely visiting again!!!

“Very nice hotel in Hakone”

The good: • Excellent Onsen Hot Springs bath. For both the morning and evening shifts, the staff consistently stocked towels and kept the bathing area very clean. I like the water station as well. I would like to nominate the Izumi Onsen cleaning staff for an employee recognition award, they are very deserving of this! • Well-kept and very clean Hyatt Regency Tatami Suite. My family members really liked how clean the beds were as well as nicely set-up futon in the Japanese tatami room. Thank you also for the welcome gift for my mother’s birthday, it was a very nice start to our stay! • The breakfast with both Western and Japanese options are very good! My family especially liked the breakfast omelets, and I loved the egg benedict with salmon. The Japanese food options are the best. Keep up the good work on the breakfast service! • Very professional and respectful staff members. They treated my family with respect. Now, onto areas of Improvement: • Hyatt Regency Hakone really needs to have an all-inclusive breakfast option and at the very least discounted dinner to be included across all reservations regardless of room or suite. This would make Hyatt Hakone extremely competitive when it comes to business & potentially long-term profits. Several Japanese Ryokans in Hakone that my family members have stayed at so far included both dinner and breakfast meals. • According to my family members (females), there were several other customers in the Onsen bathing area that wore swimsuits into the Onsen bath without washing themselves. Several other Japanese Ryokan like Hoshino KAI have tutorial about manners at the Onsen bath and I feel that it would be a good idea for Hyatt Regency Hakone to provide a basic tutorial for all guests regarding how to use the Onsen bath so it would stay clean for all guests. • Regarding hotel bus shuttle from Gora Station back to the hotel during the early evening after a long day of touring the Hakone Ropeway, the staff did not make this clear that the pick-up spot was north of the Gora station that involved stairs down and climbing the stairs back up through a tunnel. I had my 90-year-old grandmother riding a wheelchair that cannot walk very well and it seems like the driver at the time was irritated and unwilling to drive to the other side of the station where my grandmother with the wheelchair was located. After checkout, we spoke with the shuttle driver that took us to the Gora Station and was told that this issue would be addressed since there might be future customers with large amounts of luggage, family members with strollers carrying infants, or elderly family members that cannot walk very well. While I appreciate the other staff attempting to address this issue, clarification and accommodations of the Gora Station shuttle pickup and drop off needs to be discussed at your team meetings.
