Our family stayed here for 2 nites when visiting Huis Ten Bosch and while this hotel was not located within HTB, it was situated merely steps from its main gate. In fact there is another nearer side gate for Hotel Nikko guests. The hotel room was on the old side but given its pricing as compared to other HTB hotels, it is of great value. The only downside unfortunately is that the hotel started charging for parking fees recently.

“Good”

Great location, with a special guest re-entry gate to the park. Staff are good, but the hotel does get very very crowded, and the breakfast buffet lines start around 7:30am. Rooms are a bit dated, but acceptable and clean, plenty of space in the room for luggage etc.

“retro europe style”

room may be a bit retro but it's still look good , breakfast is good for japanese style buffet (i pay later) a bit far from station but fair price compare to another hotel around. highlight is the front garden that feel like palace , big public bath that make u relax

My wife and I recently stayed at the Nikko Hotel Huis Ten Bosch on our recent kyushu trip from 29/4/2023 to 1/5/2023. I thought long and hard before giving this 3 star rating. Initially I had wanted to rate 1 star or 2 star if possible. Here's what happened. If the mgmt or any hotel staff recalls, 29/4/2023( Saturday) was a heavy downpour day. It was cold with heavy rain the entire day. My wife and I landed at fukuoka airport in the morning from Singapore and went to hakata station to get our JR passes sorted before taking the hui ten bosch train to the station itself. A little bit of background information, from the train station to the hotel itself, it was a 10-15min unsheltered walk. When we alighted at the huis ten bosch JR station, we had no choice but to brave the rainstorm to get to the main entrance of the hotel. We did not have any umbrellas but just covered our heads with the hoodie jackets we wearing. By the time we got to the lobby we were drenched. At the lobby, there were 3 counters open and only ONE ladies couple guests preparing to check in. However the male customer concierge standing at the queue pointed me to automated check in machine as I spoke English to him. There is nothing wrong with using the automated check in machine, however instead of guiding or assisting us with the machine he just stood at the back of the desk area while we tried to grasp the check in ourselves. At one point the display seemed to stall just indicating loading which I didn't even know what to do. No need was rendered at all. I was already frustrated at this point as having walked in the treacherous rain, this can't be the japanese hospitality given to an overseas guests. When the keys were retrieved here was the most insulting part, he actually pointed us to use the STEPS when we were dragging 2 LARGE heavy suitcases. Look at the pictures there was a ramp path at the side of the lobby. I immediately pointed to the ramp and why can't I go by the side. He sheepishly said oh yes you can go that way. What was the meaning of this?? When I got into my room, I received another shock, there was some clear and obvious stain on the chair where the small table was. Not wanting to be held accountable after such terrible check in experience, I called the conceige. When I related the problem in English, I was put on hold and transferred to 2 -3 officers for a good few minutes.i also related the dissatisfaction of the entire check in process. A housekeeping lady came up and accessed the cleanliness issue. She removed the stain on the chair and after relaying the msg 2 more guest relations came to apologise to me. At that point one of the guests manager gave me a map and told me that my wife and I could actually access the side gate beside to enter the theme park. This was so ironic because all these could have been given to me and explained during the check-in process. The most ironic thing is that over the 2 days of stay there whenever I walked past the check in counters on route to the theme park, I see the attentiveness of the check in conceige to their guests. Irregardless of whether it was fsce to face check in or automated check in( there was someone beside the guest to guide them on the use of the machine). And I even saw the hotel map being presented and marked on the locations. This was seriously too much for me to take and all this anger resurfaced and I will deduct another star for the review. After our huis ten bosch nikko stay, I stayed at the Nikko Kumamoto. The hospitality was completely different. I'm not too sure whether is it because HuI Ten Bosch is a primarily domestic theme park. When I was there, I realised for both theme park and hotel international guests were far and few. But the hospitality treatment should not be such a case. I do understand language barrier can be a hindrance but that is no excuse for poor treatment of international guests. For the mgmt of huis ten bosch nikko, read my review for nikko kumamoto to see how they did way better than you and if you were in my shoes how would you feel. There is this quote which says " people will forget what you did, they will forget what you said, but people will NEVER FORGET how you made them feel" You made us holiday guests feel very insignificant in this japanese theme park hotel.
