Located at the busy Osaka JR station, south gate. Easily located by Damaru signage and reception on level 19. Does not have any views from my room but it is comfortable for single traveller. Enough space for luggage and moving around the room. Did not have the chance to try their breakfast as needed to check out of the hotel before 7am. Vending machine for beer at my level 24 with ice machine available too. TV channels come with YouTube which you can login to your account.

““Excellent stay marred by lazy receptionist””

I had a room on the executive 27th floor (superior double) with wonderful views and plenty of room. It was maintained excellently by the house staff who were always polite, friendly and accommodating. The 27th floor has a comfortable club lounge for guests. The range of food and drinks was very limited but there was a good coffee machine available most of the day. The hotel is in a great location, being on top of Daimaru department store attached to the main Osaka station. My only gripe was with a lazy rude receptionist. After a long flight and little sleep I arrived 2 hrs before the official check in time of 3pm. I asked if I could get the room a little earlier. I was staying 10 nights after all. He would not even check to see if the room was available, instead just told me to come back after 3pm. I arrived back 10 minutes before 3pm and found a large queue of people already checking in. A number of people were walking away with their room cards. I do not appreciate being treated like this and it does not happen in the good hotels I have stayed in around the world.

This hotel was well-located, right above Osaka Station. This made travelling from the hotel to various attractions extremely convenient. This hotel was well-located, right above Osaka Station. This made travelling from the hotel to various attractions extremely convenient. Aside from that, the hotel was surrounded by many malls, restaurants/eateries, and shopping areas. The check-in process was quick. The counter staff was friendly and spoke basic English which was good enough to assist in the completion of the check-in procedure smoothly. The rooms were dated but clean and came with the necessary toiletries and amenities (eg Kettle, TV, Towels, Safe, Hangers). The rooms’ air-conditioning was good and the rooms were able to accommodate 2 large luggage and still have sufficient space to move around the room. Overall, we had a pleasant stay in this hotel.

We stayed for two nights and to be kind this large hotel is rather tired especially in the bathroom. The breakfast is busy and not great to a Non Japanese. It is well located but note it is Osaka station not Shin-Osaka. The food here is expensive however on the 16th floor is the department store restaurants which are exceptionally affordable. It is well connected to get to the exciting parts of the city. No gym and not a good running area

We decided we'd try to save a little money while staying in Osaka, to make up for more luxurious accommodations we enjoyed elsewhere on our trip. By booking a non-deluxe room at the Hotel Granvia Osaka, we succeeded on this front. Furthermore, the hotel was conveniently located in the JR train station. This facilitated our arrival and departure, and also provided easy access to/from Universal Studios. The staff was generally helpful and friendly. That's about all the good I can say about our time at this hotel. We had booked a standard twin room, which is one of the lower class rooms on offer. And "class" is the perfect word to use, because this hotel hugely emphasizes the haves and the have-nots. The 'haves' have rooms on the upper floor. They have a private lounge. They have a dedicated elevator. When they go to the hotel breakfast in the morning, they are escorted to the main dining area beneath the opulent chandelier, whereas we plebs are shuffled off to a more understated room on the side, even though we will all be sharing the same buffet. It's actually sort of hilarious. If I had paid to be on the special floor, I'd probably have a completely different impression of this hotel. As it is, my experience reflects the "standard" experience. The hotel elevator is very slow. There are seemingly several elevators, but only one or two appear to be operating at any time. The elevator takes long to arrive, and stops at many floors, including the mid-level lobby EVERY time, whether anyone requests it to stop there or not. Do factor the elevator travel time into your commute. The standard guest rooms are reasonably sized, and were probably considered nice and high end, once upon a time. But now, they are old. Outdated and worn out. Signs of wear and tear are everywhere. There are black spots on the grout in the bathroom. The room has an irritating, musty smell throughout. The closet contains an air deodorizing spray, but it doesn't help. The hallways are dizzingly long. We were sort of close to the elevator, but I could imagine the walk there might be substantial, depending on where you are positioned. We certainly made do staying here, and it got the job done for the couple of days we were in Osaka. But our room was definitely not a place we looked forward to returning.
