“Nice hotel close to attractions”

The hotel is well located, the rooms are a little cramped and the shower is above a freestanding bath so not brilliant but if you’re spending a night in Matsumoto and want a nice hotel close to the attractions then this is a good choice

This was one of the more ‘traditional’ hotels in which we stayed. It was on the older side. Our room was in what was described as the annexe. It was a Nice room of decent size. As is typical in Japan everything was provided plus the extra bonus of chargers and a blue tooth speaker if wanted. It was the only hotel during our stay to provide a Nespresso machine. . Very traditional pyjamas i Liked the room as there was a lobby area in which we could accommodate and easily access suitcases without falling over them. There was a Decent size bathroom with a small bath and shower. The whole room was very clean except for some mould on bathroom tiles. The Shower is good if your height is up to about 6’ 2”. Shower head holes needed bit of lime scale cleaning to flow better. Please note- the shower is in deep raised bath. This was Harder for a short person to get in and out. I Thought I would slip so installation of a grab handle or step would be very helpful. The Beds were very comfortable and the single beds are 4’ which is a good size. The Room did get cold but good heating provided. Plenty of plugs. Room was Very quiet. Breakfast mainly traditional Japanese but some limited western food available. Very good Japanese breakfast. Public baths are on site . There is free Shuttle departing at fixed times to the station which you pre book. Suggest you book the night before. There is a small Cafe attached to the hotel with a small shop. Good atmosphere. Very helpful staff. Location within walking distance of anything you want to see in Matsumoto and the station.

“Quirky craft-centered gem close to the Matsumoto station.”

This quirky but comfortable hotel won't necessarily wow you but they get the details right. Quaint architecture, comfortable yukata, very nice service (in particular they were very sweet when dealing with a lost passport situation!). “Great location, good bed, a bit run Down”

We stayed for two nights. The hotel is a 5 minute cab ride or 15 minute walk from the train/bus station. It is just a 5 minute walk to Matsumoto castle or the “shopping streets”. What was good: - the deluxe double is a big room, with a sleeping and sitting area, tiny closet and a desk. - the king bed was actually two double pushed together but there was room to walk around - AC had two units and worked well - there is a decent onsen in the basement - nice nespresso coffee maker in room - staff are all friendly and helpful Not so good: - the bathroom, though large, is very oddly arranged. The shower requires one to climb into a freestanding and slightly wobbly tub. The shower works well but kind goes everywhere even though there is a floor drain. - the breakfast buffet is really mediocre. The food leans heavily Japanese and not very good Japanese food. It is crowded and hard to get things. - the hotel has no place to get a drink in the evening, so one must go out - room had a stale smell and the housekeeping is sub par (towel from previous guest left behind bathtub) Restaurants nearby - hotel has a good map with restaurants nearby - a block north is a good Tonkatsu place open for lunch and dinner - there is. Street next to the hotel with several izakaya style places - there is a hole in the hole okinomiyaki place that’s a little disheveled but the lady running it was very nice and the foos was tasty - there is a good izakaya due east about a block bunzaga. Lively place, good sake, decent chicken - there is a Family mart on the way to the castle with the usual stuff and an ATM
