We stayed at the Tokyu Stay Yotsuya during the Rugby World Cup in October 2019. While Tokyo was extremely busy, Yotsuya was relatively quiet. It’s rather central but not as crowded as the more popular tourist-oriented districts of Tokyo. The hotel is 5 minutes from the Yotsuya metro station, which proved to be very handy. All the staff at the Tokyu Stay Yotsuya were very polite and helpful. Miss Goda, who worked on the reception desk, was extremely helpful when we needed to extend our stay due to Typhoon Hagibis. Our room was a reasonable size with a large bed, small sofa, wardrobe, desk, etc. There was also a small kitchenette that was equipped with a fridge, microwave, saucepans, plates, utensils, etc. There was also a washer/dryer. Best of all there was a small balcony with a wonderful view across Tokyo. On a couple of days we could see Mt Fuji from our room! Brilliant! Unfortunately, there are few restaurants in Yotsuya that have much for vegetarians on their dinner menus. There is a Family Mart right next to the hotel and you can find just about everything you need for snacks, a light meal plus beer and English language newspapers. We heartily recommend The Rising Sun pub nearby for an excellent pint, grilled cheese sandwiches and chips plus excellent rugby camaraderie!

Rooms are fairly sized and clean and boast a balcony. Every unit is a neat little efficiency with everything you need. A desk, a small sitting area, a bathroom, a cooking area and a washing machine. Yotsuya is well located on the west side of the city, 40 minutes by subway to Asakusa and 30 minutes to Shibuya. At about $90-100 a night for a single room it’s value for money, but I might stay somewhere else next time I’m in Tokyo to explore other parts of the city. Ps: if you stay less than a week, there’s no housekeeping but they will remove your trash and give you fresh towels

“Not bad.”

In need of a update. Pros: The bed was quite big in our 25m room. almost a king size which made sleeping great. The room was quiet even though we were near the elevator on the 7th floor. Location is not bad, the nearest train station has many lines going through it, so easy to access different... more

In need of a update. Pros: The bed was quite big in our 25m room. almost a king size which made sleeping great. The room was quiet even though we were near the elevator on the 7th floor. Location is not bad, the nearest train station has many lines going through it, so easy to access different areas of Tokyo. Stores downstairs and restaurants on the side streets near the station are convenient. Biggest reason we chose this hotel was the washing machine in the room. We were able to take half the clothes we would usually take, and then wash and have more space for shopping. Staff were all very nice and helpful. (there is scale to weight baggage at the desk as well) Cons: We felt the room was not as clean as it should have been when checking in. For some reason there were two small fridges in the room. it was like one broke and rather than replacing it, they just put a bigger one in the room. This took up valuable luggage space. They have "limited housekeeping", which was just towels and trash, but we thought that was okay.

“Tired rooms, no catering, not great!!”

The room does not look like the pictures and are in need of a refurb. The decor is tired. We arrived from an international flight early in the morning and couldn’t check in but could drop baggage. The room does not look like the pictures and are in need of a refurb. The decor is tired. We arrived from an international flight early in the morning and couldn’t check in but could drop baggage. We returned to check in at 2 rather than 3pm but had to pay ¥100 per person to access the room an hour early! The rooms were ready and bags had already been taken to the room!! Breakfast is non-existent. You pick up a soup and a microwaveable ‘croque monsieur’ from reception and take it back to your room. The reception staff do not speak English at all (you’re in Japan, why should they) but might be wise not to advertise as an international hotel. There is no restaurant facility. There’s a full size washing machine in the bedroom 🤷‍♀️
