“Great hotel”

Incredible hotel, me and my family had a great stay there! There are many good restaurants in this hotel. The waiters and waitresses are very polite people. Also, the taxis are everywhere. Special mention to the great taxi company called S Ride.

The patisserie in the lobby and the breakfast buffet were incredible. The kids loved it. They had fun trying out all the different food options available, and they also enjoyed the garden area. A friend recommended the Westin, and it exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect: central to the business areas of Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Harajuku—great areas to explore. The hotel staff was friendly and attentive to our needs and really friendly to our kids.

“One of the nicest Westins I have ever stayed at”

When you walk in the lobby it is a wow moment. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast in the lobby lounge and executive club were some of the best breakfast buffets I have enjoyed. There is also a nice garden surrounding the property. I would recommend to both vacation and business travelers.

Overall this is a good property with some really very odd choices to what was supposed to be a sizeable renovation. Let’s get this point out of the way first - the renovation, which recently took place and on paper would have refreshed all rooms and various common areas, is a shocker. Rather than going for a full refit the property opted for a partial one and the mismatched mix of styles is jarring. The large expanses of dated dark wood and black marble remain in the lobby and all bathrooms, whereas other spaces, such as the restaurants, lounge and bedrooms have been renovated in a somewhat incoherent way. The lounge, the ost successful spot for the renovation, for example has a very clean and modern look to it - exactly what you would have expected the rooms to be. Sadly, they instead have been renovated in a sort of mid-80s style with textured walls, room-wide suede headboard and white wood panels. Combined to the bathrooms which had almost no changes from their previous version, with the aforementioned black marble counters, and you get an already dated feel throughout. Of note, the shower has no shelf at all, which makes it rather impractical if you prefer your own soap or shampoo bottle. Seems like you hissed renovation is a major missed opportunity as it will not age well. The rest of the property is fine. Service is predictably pleasant and non-intrusive (aka it’s Japan) and F&B decent. Lounge is very pleasant for an evening drink with a creative selection of quality snacks. Staff there is great and very helpful except maybe for the Caucasian gentleman who cannot seem to remember guests even one hour apart. Quite awkward as there is a palpable nervousness upon arriving as the staff seem a little too eager to check you belong. Location is excellent. The Ebisu Garden complex gives a sense of space in what is a fairly crowded city. So good choice for sure but that renovation is something else altogether. If you don’t mind the decor this is a very good hotel in many other ways, will return for sure.
