Make sure to request a room facing away from the street (ambulance noise early in the morning). Both checkin and checkout were done via electronic kiosk so it was quick. This was my first small Tokyo sized room and it was very slender and cramped. Fortunately with some adjustments our luggage fit. We just had to close it up and stand it upright every time which got very tiring. The subway is nearby and made getting around very simple. We opted out of the breakfast because of the mixed reviews. Our breakfasts were split between 7-11 and Tully’s nearby. All in all I would recommend this to budget minded travelers who want a solid, no frills choice of accommodation.

Have just spent 5 nights at the fresa in Higashi-shinjuku. As you probably guess from the title, everything at the hotel was fantastic - the rooms were larger than I expected (and have experienced before) for Tokyo, and well equipped. As standard for Japan, the bathroom was excellent with a really powerful shower, robo-toilet and good quality towels. The beds were super comfortable, and we both slept really well. The hotel does face a main road and even on floor 11 we heard sirens fairly frequently, but nothing that kept us awake. In reception there is an amenities table that you can use as a guest for items you may need or have forgotten to bring - really nice touch. The staff were all really pleasant and helpful. The location is excellent being walking distance to the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku whilst being in a slightly quieter part of town away from the madness. The hotel is also literally on top of a metro stop which is 4 stops from Shibuya so very convenient for getting around. The only thing to let the hotel down - the breakfast in the neighbouring restaurant. There is a wide variety to cater for different tastes, however there is a definite issue with temperature control. Every day I tried the sausages and on each occasion bar one - they were stone cold. The same with some other items however these were slightly more varied - some days warm, some days ice-cold. Breakfast was included in the booking we had made. Had it not have been I would have ventured out to have breakfast. If I were to return to this hotel (which I certainly would) I’d select the non breakfast option. But overall - highly recommended.

Needs to be refreshed for the price. The room is” larger” as opposed to the apa. Good location. The whole floor was musty and even though the sheets were clean the bed still smelled.
