A fabulous hotel located in the very heart of Shibuya. Our room, on the 24th (top) floor, was perfect – looking out of our large window we could watch pedestrians and traffic on the iconic Shibuya Scramble Crossing down below. On a clear day we also had a stunning view of Mount Fuji in the distance. Two of the hotel’s lifts have glass corner windows from which you can get amazing views of Tokyo and the Shibuya Crossing. We arrived at the Shibuya Excel extremely tired following long overnight flights – at extra cost, we were able to check in early and recover from our journey. Our room was super-clean and comfortable. In its design, it felt a little “beige”, a little dated, considering this is a four star luxury hotel. However, the main advantage of this hotel is its location – we were spoilt for choice in terms of restaurants and shops. In the basement area under the hotel (called Shibuya Mark City) there is a massive supermarket that sells amazing sushi and lots of other things. The supermarket also has its own bakery and café. The hotel is quite difficult to find when you first arrive there, so make sure you have good robust directions unless you’re arriving by taxi. I got dreadfully lost around Shibuya Station nearby.

The hotel is located on the upper floors of Shibuya Mark City, in the Tokyu Group.　It is located 1 minute from Shibuya Scramble Crossing. It has the best access.

Here right now. It’s our 3rd day in Shibuya, first visit to Japan and this hotel is great. Friend and I took the limousine bus from Narita and were dropped off at the front door. We’re in a twin room which yes, is a little smaller than what we are used to but perfectly fine as we are not here much but to sleep. The room is very clean. Beds comfy and bathroom has been perfect for us. Shampoo, conditioner and soap provided in room are excellent and I’m going to try and buy the same brand. Location is amazing. For our first trip we wanted to be in the midst of things and be able to walk wherever. We can! We’re on the 23rd floor, can’t hear any street noise at all. Not a view of the crossing but can easily get there or to a window that views it. Check in and front desk staff have been incredible, very friendly and helpful. Love that there’s a 7-11 and Starbucks about 1 minute away. I don’t find the hotel to be dated and maybe I have simpler tastes but I’ll take clean and comfy any day. I also used points to pay for part of the stay so maybe not spending a huge amount helps. Location is so convenient! I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Maybe the only thing I would change is to see about the 3 person room to have one bed for the extra suitcase I am filling up!

This hotel has a fantastic location right on the Shibuya scramble crossing but just far enough back that you have some respite from the madness. It does all the basics well. Check-in was prompt, easy and professional. My room was a single and it was certainly small but had a great view from the 16th floor over the Shibuya skyline and the lifts of course have great views of the crossing. Getting to ground level was a little difficult with either a small lift or a number of escalators, and Uber pick-up seems to be impossible from the main drop-off area for some reason. But staff were very helpful at arranging taxi pick-ups and helping with the destination. Would definitely stay again.
