The hotel room is small but the plus point is that it comes with a large balcony. Balcony could have been smaller and the room could have been bigger. The toilet in the room is also very small. But the room is ok if you're only going to sleep in it. The bed is comfy but the pillow are a bit hard. The location of the hotel is about 100m away from the JR line and about 700m away from the Ryogoku subway. As the hotel is very near the train station you will hear the train passing by, but we were so tired that we slept through the noise anyways. It did not bother us. There is a McDonalds directly opposite the hotel, which is convenient if you need to grab breakfast early in the morning as most restaurants only open at 11am. There is a nice cafe right next to the hotel, which is very cosy and perfect to grab coffee on rainy mornings. Reception was also very friendly and helpful. They speak a little bit of english but will try to address all your needs.

“Clean and Compact Hotel near JR Station”

We chose this hotel primarily because it is directly across the JR Ryogoku Station. The Oedo Line Subway Ryogoku is a bit farther, about 8 mins walk. We chose this hotel primarily because it is directly across the JR Ryogoku Station. The Oedo Line Subway Ryogoku is a bit farther, about 8 mins walk. The area is a bit quieter than the busy Akihabara or Asakusa area. You can hear the train sound from the hotel room, especially from the rooms facing the JR station, but it wasn't too loud or annoying for us. The room itself is really compact, there isn't much space to move around but cozy. There were 4 of us (all adults) and we have 4 beds (3 single beds and 1 sofa bed). Kinda hard to walk between the furniture (which are only the beds, a table with water kettle, coffee, and tea, a small table to put stuff, and then the long table for the tv and more stuff. The bathroom is nice and clean. The toilet is standard like you can find everywhere in Japan and you have a bathtub. It can be quite humid after a hot shower because I don't think there is a ventilation system or maybe it just broke. We can sleep well though. The staff, although doesn't speak much english, is really helpful and friendly. The breakfast food is overall tasty and there is a lot of variety of food. Mostly in japanese style like tamagoyaki, miso soup, saba (mackerel), and the special chanko nabe (sumo stew). You can also choose the western like potatoes, hams, and sausages. There are also cereal, fruits, salads, and wide selection of coffee from the coffee maker. There are many restaurants and cafes in the hotel's proximity from Marugame Seinen, local restaurants that sell sushi, katsudon, and even there is a cafe near the entrance of the hotel. Last but not least there is also a FamilyMart near the hotel. Overall this hotel is the perfect choice if you want an affordable one that is close to the train station. Will definitely choose to stay here again if we come back here someday.

“Not for me ”

The hotel staff was nice, but the room accommodation was weird making the whole room feel stuffy. The hotel lacked a do not disturb sign and most mornings the room keeper would wake us up and be a bit rude about us staying a bit late, like 9:30- 10 am in the room. The whole key thing wasn’t for me… more

The hotel staff was nice, but the room accommodation was weird making the whole room feel stuffy. The hotel lacked a do not disturb sign and most mornings the room keeper would wake us up and be a bit rude about us staying a bit late, like 9:30- 10 am in the room. The whole key thing wasn’t for me either, I’m not a fan of having to leave the key in the hotel lobby. It’s near a train station and a bakery.
