“Very Good”

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful . The rooms are individually fit. Mine was 24 m² and it was very good. The location is perfect, however be aware that the hotel starts at 3rd floor. You do have an elevator all the way. The breakfast is good and offers enough options.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a British always package deal. The hotel was in an excellent location for exploring Tokyo. Two convenience stores within a one minute walk (one literally downstairs, another 3 shops down). The station was a 5 minute walk away, and you have plenty of shops; restaurants and things to do nearby! The room was a reasonable size, probably about the size of an average hotel room . There was sufficient space for baggage to be unloaded, which is a pro in Tokyo! We stayed on the front of the hotel, which was a bit noisy at night due to the road at the front. If you’re sensitive to noise, it might be worth asking for a room at the back, which might be quieter, or on a higher floor. The WiFi didn’t work very well, except at reception, which was a bit of a downside, but there are lots of WiFi options in Tokyo, or you can buy a relatively cheap e-sim. The coin laundry room was very good and we made use of that on two nights during our stay. We added breakfast to our booking and I thought this was good value and gave us some fruit without costing an arm and a leg! Overall, I was happy with my stay at this hotel, and I would stay again if I was in Tokyo.

We spent only two nights on a stop-over here. This is a functional, no-frills property located centrally in Shinjuku, as the name suggests. It's a short walk to the subway, and given its location, it's close to bars and restaurants, both gay and straight. We booked a 'studio', which really was simply a very small room where two adults with regular suitcases would struggle to move about. It was kept immaculately clean and everything worked as it should have, from aircon to WiFi to bathroom. The bedding is high quality, we slept well and had no complaints. Given how busy the hotel is, we were surprised how relatively quiet the room remained. A feature worth mentioning, perhaps, is that the lobby has an espresso maker that is available 24h with no extra charge. It's really great to be able to grab a pick-me-up after a day out in Tokyo. I should also give a shout-out to the staff working in the lobby. They provided unfailingly good service. Very much appreciated. If you're looking to stay in this particular part of the city, as we were, you should seriously consider this hotel.

I selected this hotel based in its location and in that respect it absolutely delivered. It’s a 10 minute walk to Shinjuku station (tip: the Central East Exit is the best one), Golden Gai is literally around the corner and the surrounding area is jam-packed with shopping, food and entertainment options. In short, you don’t go to Tokyo to stay in your hotel room (!) and the accommodation at Citadines is very basic. My room was pretty small but that’s been the standard in most of the mid range hotels I’ve booked in Japan. That said, it was clean and had all the basics. No hanging / storage space (which again seems fairly standard) and the pillows were like rocks. I asked at reception if they had a softer pillow and they were kind enough to arrange one for me which improved my sleep significantly! I’ve lived on a main road for 12 years so traffic / nightlife sounds don’t bother me but there was a lot of music, sirens and drunken shenanigans until the wee hours, so take earplugs if you are sensitive to noise! As many people have mentioned, having a Lawon’s downstairs is handy but there are literally convenience stories on every corner so don’t let that be a deciding factor. I do want to say a huge thank you to the front desk team who helped me when my phone network died and were googling support lines for my provider back home in Australia. Definitely above and beyond!
