My husband & i absolutely enjoyed our recent stay at Grand Hyatt Fukuoka. The staff were efficient, attentive, courteous and cheerful. The breakfast was delicious, sumptuous and tasty soup. Everywhere was squeaky clean eg the gym & spa. Kudos to the staff for great job!

Very good location, many things to do around. Theres nothing bad about this place. Location is good, easy to get transportation and many food choices around.

Have been staying regularly at this property for past 25 years. There is no more any recognition of such regular guests! You are treated as a new guest on every visit. Have been staying regularly at this property for past 25 years. There is no more any recognition of such regular guests! You are treated as a new guest on every visit. Most importantly, the cleaning standards have gone down. They are no more the strict Japanese cleaning standards. Room cleaning maids have become careless. Sad to notice lowering of Japanese standards.

“So many things to love, but…”

We recently stayed in Fukuoka for 3 nights, and grand Hyatt was centrally located near Hakata station. Its direct connection by walkway bridge to canal city was super convenient. We don’t shop a lot but given the hot and humid summer days, it was handy. Check in was fairly straight forward and we were allowed to view two room options for our family of four: 2 adults and 2 tween children. We booked a two twin bed room, but the twin beds were more like full size, so it worked for us. Beds were very firm, per usual in Japan. The room faced the canal which wasn’t the prettiest view but was nice to see the general area especially at nighttime. It came with amenities like great toiletries and yukata and slippers. The rain shower head was the best I’ve ever experienced. The stocked mini fridge was a nice addition. We opted to skip the breakfast as we’d experienced several other large chain hotel breakfasts during this trip and they were quite similar. We were ready for lighter options and found the Full Full bakery a few minutes from the hotel. It was incredible and worth looking for! Exit onto the street near Tully’s coffee and a few min later you arrive! The bar fizz lounge had nightly entertainment and we enjoyed with our kids especially the pianist Matsumoto. Wow! Their light snack menu was good and portions large enough to be considered meals. There was a Wolfgang puck restaurant within the hotel and we ate brunch one day. Service was excellent and the food very good. It was super convenient to have right on site when meeting with a friend. The one and perhaps sticking point thing we did not like was the pool rules. Families with children had to make a reservation to swim. Not a huge issue, but the clincher is that swim caps were required for leisure swimming for anyone in the pool. Big turn off. Personally I think if one chooses to wear a cap then fine. But the majority do not. The other large chain hotels we stayed at within Japan did not have this unique rule. So aside from this very unfortunate experience, the Hyatt was ok. If the pool had not been such a big issue, then we’d probably be super excited to stay here again. There were so many reasons to love it, but one huge reason to say no thank you.
