Hotel in the city center 100m from the main square (in the pedestrian zone, but reachable by car if you submit your license plate in advance) WiFi is working well. Staff is helpful. Abundant breakfast (continental and English) that you need to book the day before. Room and bathroom (shower) of average size, very clean. Fridge (complimentary water) available. If the weather is really hot you will regret the lack of the air conditioning.

“Good Value, Friendly Staff, Clean”

My wife and I spent five nights in the Hotel Albergo Duomo. We used Montepulciano as a very convenient home base for local travel. The Albergo is located at the top and edge of the town which is very walkable, but steep in places. It is a small, older hotel, but was in good condition and very clean. There will be some street noise if you have the windows open. It has an elevator. It was a good value for the price. The staff was very friendly and helpful. To drop bags at the hotel, you need to contact them in advance and get a permit to drive through the ZTL (No Drive Zone for non-residents). Free parking, requires a permit provided by the hotel, and is a long 15 minute walk up and down very steep paths and streets. The hotel is convenient, but at the very edge of one end of town (the higher end!).

We had spent a beautiful night in Albergo Duomo. The room was very clean and cosy and the staff was really available to help and explain what to see around the city. The Hotel is in the heart of Montepulciano. We absolutely recommended!

We stayed overnight here. The two things we really liked about the hotel were its great location and the service. It is located in the historical centre which was perfect especially for a short stay like ours. It is only a stone’s throw from the Piazza Grande so we could get up and start exploring straight away after breakfast. Our room was comfortable and clean although the bathroom was quite small, which others have also noted. Breakfast was good and was served between 8 – 10:30 in the downstairs breakfast room which was a pleasant and bright space. The staff were really very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. They also gave us good restaurant recommendations within walking distance. The front desk is open from 8am – 10pm but they gave us a door code so we could let ourselves in after this time. CAR-PARKING: Being smack-bang in the historic centre, the hotel falls within the ZTL zone and cars cannot enter. The hotel has some allocated parking spots in the Fortezza public carpark on the outskirts of the town which is where we parked. As a guest, the parking was free. However we found it very difficult to get to the carpark because our GPS system kept trying to send us through the ZTL zones. My advice is, don’t rely on GPS and look up directions for parking before you get there. We nearly went mad trying to find a way to get to the carpark and we ended up accidentally driving through the ZTL zones more than once. Finally we rang the hotel in desperation and they were extremely helpful, staying on the phone giving us directions until we made it to the carpark. We were very grateful. It was only a short walk of 5 minutes or so from the carpark to the hotel. In fact you are allowed to bring your car to the hotel in order to drop off bags and then you have to drive out again. However we found it easier to leave our suitcases in the boot of our car and take in a small overnight bag instead.
