We were surprised and delighted to receive a room upgrade and were given the most beautiful suite. Gorgeous neutral tones, silk stripe fabric on the walls - it was classy and elegant. The food was fabulous and delicious.

“Fabulous”

Fabulous hotel, staff and facilities. The only thing letting it down is the atmosphere in the restaurant in the evenings. Reduced lighting and a little background music would make it a much more enjoyable environment. However the food is amazing

I've had some good experiences in hotels over the years but I was genuinely sad to leave this boutique hotel which is less than 1km on a flat route from the old town of Riva. The hotel is modern and well appointed since its renovation with indoor and outdoor pools, a spa area, 2 restaurants for breakfast & dinner, and a stylish bar area. The pool area also features a garden section. What makes this place is its hardworking and ultra-professional staff. They were courteous, warm, and had an excellent command of multiple languages (we heard German, English and Italian spoken) and they were very kind towards me in my poor attempts to speak Italian! The vast majority of the guests really appreciated it. From the warm welcome on arrival and helpful information to the impeccable service from Maitre d' Ignatzio and his brilliant team (Maura, Nicola and Nadia) at meals as well as the knowledgable and unflappable Renato on the bar and the hardworking housekeeping staff keeping everything ticking over, we felt a part of it. I was especially appreciative that, in spite of my not having told them in advance, the restaurant team provided me with gluten free food throughout my stay. Ignatzio advised me at all times what I could have and the chef had prepared almost everything so that I could eat without anxiety. This is above and beyond any service I have had anywhere in the world and I'd like to thank them for looking after me so well. We also appreciated the brilliantly professional reception staff who, on several occasions, helped us during our stay from booking extras to when my husband accidentally picked up the wrong spa robe(!) If you can afford a little extra, it's worth upgrading to a junior suite from a standard room, for the generous space. The soundproofing was also excellent as we hardly heard a noise all night which made for a restful stay. We had access to 3 balconies in our 3rd floor room but all rooms seemed to have sun-facing balconies. There is also access to a supermarket within 1km which we found useful for bottles of water etc. I hope one day to return to Villa Nicolli and note that several of the people around us were repeat guests. It is a special place with an excellent team and showed Riva at its absolute best.

“A lovely week in September”

Stayed for a week in September . The hotel is in a nice quiet location but within 10 mins walk of the centre of Riva. Stayed for a week in September . The hotel is in a nice quiet location but within 10 mins walk of the centre of Riva. We were very pleased with the hotel, staff were really helpful ( especially Ivana on the front desk who speaks excellent English) . The breakfast is exceptional with a great choice from the table and you’re also able to choose whatever types of egg you like freshly cooked . The pool area is very quiet and I would suggest it’s actually frowned upon to be putting towels on beds to reserve them. There’s just no need. Just one point around the pool if you’re an avid sun fan - due to the surrounding mountains you do lose the sun quite early ( about 5 pm when we were there) The evening meals are four course and for gents it is a strict long trousers only rule which personally I don’t agree with. I’m sure a smart pair of shorts looks better than a pair of jeans in most cases but hey- them’s the rules! Whilst the food was good in the evening we personally liked to mix it up a little and ate out in the town on quite a few occasions, mainly because it was a nice atmosphere. In short Riva is beautiful and the Villa Nicolli is a great base to explore it from.
