“Lovely hotel, would recommend”

We stayed just one night as we were on our way from Milan to Innsbruck. This is a beautiful building that harks back to a bygone era of travel, and it's right on the main square of Piazza Walther. The decor of the rooms is a bit odd though - not quite dated, not quite modern. The bathroom in our room was pretty big and modern with beautiful dark blue tiles, a warming towel rail, a bidet, toilet and pretty decent shower. The TV in the room had Sky Italia and we found that if you came across an English-language programme that had been dubbed into Italian it was sometimes possible to change the soundtrack to the English one: just press the "i" (information) button and change the language (this might say "lingua") to "inglese" or "originale". It might not work for every channel. The staff were all really friendly and helped us out when we brought a bottle of wine back and needed a corkscrew. The breakfast is superb - just walking into the food area, it's a visual spectacle. There are no scrambled eggs but there are hot hard-boiled ones and a cold omelette available too. The range of meats and cheeses is fantastic and the cakes are delectable. There was also prosecco available! All in all we loved our stay here and would happily stay again if in the area. Cannot recommend it enough.

Located right in the heart of Bolzano, this is a great spot to stay. The staff were very accomodating & Chiara is fabulously warm & helpful. Her cheery welcoming each day was wonderful. Located right in the heart of Bolzano, this is a great spot to stay. The staff were very accomodating & Chiara is fabulously warm & helpful. Her cheery welcoming each day was wonderful. The room was spacious & clean, though the beds are not the most comfortable & very basic. Breakfast is excellent & so is the cappuccino. We arrived by car & the public parking station is connected underground to the hotel which made it easy for moving our luggage to the room. The location is perfect for exploring the town & access to the cable car. The bar downstairs provided a lovely spot for a nightcap with an old world ambience. The Christmas markets were on the doorstep & if you are using the train the station is a convenient walk. Would be happy to return to this hotel.

“A little less Italy”
Traveled alone to Austrian-Influenced Bolzano and liked the central location of the hotel, in a pedestrian zone. My room was tiny, but clean and perfectly acceptable. Very nice, helpful staff. Plenty of places to walk and grocery stores to pick up a quick lunch.

Solid hotel with an excellent location for exploring the town and region. Easily reached from the train station (10-minute walk) and in the pedestrian area of town. Staff members were accommodating and available to answer any questions. The rooms are exactly as they appear in the photos -- somewhat spartan. If you have trouble with your knees, be aware that the beds are low and close to the floor. I would rate the mattress as a medium-firm. We were able to sleep on the matress but certainly was not the more comfortable bed. There was a desk chair but no other chair available for relaxing at the end of the day. The bathroom was rather spacious but the shower stall was slender -- and I am not a large person. The breakfast service was ample with a variety of juices, cheeses, meats, sweets, breads, etc. There was also a gluten-free area with multiple selections. Martha was particularly helpful. Overall, the hotel was quiet, in exactly the right location, for visiting the Christmas market and at a very good rate. If we return for a couples weekend, I might be tempted to try a hotel with a less monastic approach to comfort.
