My boyfriend used to be a tour guide in Naples for the USO and used to bring navy people and their families here to the winery on tours. Earlier this month we stayed here on vacation on our way down to sail the Amalfi coast. We had the most amazing dinner at the restaurant paired with wines made on site. There were more courses then I can count. But each plate was better then the next!! The ingredients were amazing! Every plate that they brought to the table was incredible! It was one of the best meals that I have ever eaten in my life! The smells, the tastes, the presentation was out of this world!! We had booked a room for four online and we thought we were going to get a large room with two double beds and one queen sized bed. This room was a suite!!! Through the first set of doors was the bathroom and a door that led to the room with the double beds and then up another set of stairs was another door that opened up to another room with the Queen sized bed! This hotel used to be a noble house that they have made into a hotel. I felt like a queen for the night! There was a beautiful pool in the middle of the property and all around this special place were the vineyards. In the morning we had breakfast, which was included. They made us a coffee of our choice and we had fresh pineapple juice with a fruit plate and fresh pastries. This place is a special gem and if you are in the area it is definitely worth a stop, even if it's just to buy the wine. I loaded up for our trip and bought several cases of the red, white and the sparkling wine. We paid around 8 or 9 euros per bottle for a wine that you would buy for $30 to $40 back in the USA! The staff were very kind and made our experience here that much more memorable! The manager was amazing! I definitely plan to go back and stay at this hotel and eat at the restaurant again! This was our first night in Italy and I could not have imagined a better way to kick off a trip of a lifetime!

“Dugenta bound in 2016”

“Royal treatment”

The hotel is in a country manor on a hill behind Dugenta, with views of the vineyards in every direction. We were travelling as a couple on the cheap-ish after blowing through our budget in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, and this was the absolute perfect place to relax and unplug for a night. Yes… more

The hotel is in a country manor on a hill behind Dugenta, with views of the vineyards in every direction. We were travelling as a couple on the cheap-ish after blowing through our budget in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, and this was the absolute perfect place to relax and unplug for a night. Yes, the wifi was terrible, the staff barely spoke English, and there was a definite mold odor in the bathroom - but what a property, and what service, and what a sensation of just letting go! We were treated to the tenuta's free spumante and just-made snacks from the kitchen upon a arrival, then a top-quality (as in, creative, gourmet) meal at the restaurant - more or less by ourselves - wiht free-flowing wine. We didn't even try the TV, we just sank into our mattresses in a stupor and woke up with the warmth of the sun. Perfect.

“Lovely Setting but....”

I really wanted to like this place. The photos do not lie - the setting is spectacular but the rest of the experience does not match the splendor of the views and vistas. The room was fine - sparsely furnished but traditional, much what we expected. The problem, however, was the air conditioning. The AC unit cooled only 6" in front of it and could in no way bring the room temperature down to a comfortable level or even reduce the humidity. We spent the first night on our phones (no wifi, just paying for roaming data) trying to find a different hotel for the next night. When we told the front desk the next morning that the AC was not cooling the room we were told that they would "turn it up" and it should be better. Were they purposefully keeping the AC from working at full force!? The TV should just not even be in the room. If it wasn't there, we wouldn't have noticed it's absence. The ancient TV had some sort of satellite descrambler and required a specific series of operations to get it working. There were no instructions at all to help. Once we asked for help and got it turned on we found that none of the channels came in. The lack of instruction or information was somewhat of a recurring theme throughout our 3-day stay. We were never acquainted with the property - there was no mention of the wine produced on site or the possibility to taste or purchase or tour the facilities or vineyard. At check-in we were told that the dinner would be "on the grill" and that breakfast was from 7 to 10. We were excited to experience the restaurant after seeing the menu on their website. However, the first night there was no menu - just a prix fixe with a fish or meat option (never knew the price until check out). We ate elsewhere the second night but on the third night we dined at the hotel and were presented with a very limited a la carte menu - again with no prices. We think the cocktails and bottle of wine we had that night were somehow included but it would have been nice to know beforehand. It wasn't a language issue as we speak more than enough Italian to understand anything related to meals, hotel services, etc. We loved the pool - clean and relaxing. The lounge chairs were faded and worn with many of them broken. The staff for the most part was very sweet but seemed mostly undertrained and uninformed. On the day of our checkout we had to go hunt down someone to ask for coffee. After finding someone and requesting coffee for ourselves and another table, we waited 45 minutes before the server returned looking confused and then remembered he never got our coffees. When another table asked for yogurt, the server simply grabbed an unopened yogurt from a vacated table and gave it to them. It really seemed that most of the staff just had no idea what was going on and since the hotel was nowhere near capacity, there was probably an extra small staff (at times seemingly just 1 person) on duty at any given time. A few simple tweaks could really make this hotel 5 stars and attract more guests to this remote area.
