I'm definitely a fan of jaw dropping views, and Hotel Gattapone's view of the Ponte de Torri was unmatchable. We were traveling as a group, 3 couples, my wife and I had our one year old sun with us. Communication with the staff was great leading up to our stay, and when we arrived, Luccio who works the front desk greeted us, helped us park our car, and assisted us with the bag drag to the room. The hotel had kindly upgraded us to a suite so we had more room for our son and his crib which was greatly appreciated. The hotel staff were all great, Luccio especially assisted us with some great restaurant suggestions and itinerary suggestions. The Maria Grazia, lady who runs the breakfast, which was really good also was super nice to our son. I know some have commented on the hotel being dated, but honestly we loved the decor, and the vibe of the hotel. We'd always have fun in the evening after a day trip and dinner sipping wine in the large lounge in the center of the hotel. We had great weather, but if we'd been rained in this would have been the spot to relax and just enjoy the view. Driving and parking, there's about 4-6 spots to park right next to the hotel for free, or in spots down the street for about 5 euro per day. Driving in, the route up through the ZTL does have a one way at a time road up to the hotel with stop lights on each end. It's a little tight if you aren't used to windy, cobble stone streets, but the cars fit! Loved it here, it was my favorite stay on our 2 week trip. Spoleto was a great base for Umbria and also Eastern Tuscany. We visited Lago di Trasimeno, Isola Polvese, Montepulciano, Assissi, Montefalco, Bevagna, Spello, Marmore falls (check operating times) and the San Pietro monastery in the Valnerina valley. Also stopped at Civita di Bagnoreggio on our way to Porto Santo Steffano.

“Wonderful stay!!”

We stayed here one night on our whirlwind tour of Northern Italy and we loved it! We had a tough day of late trains/missed buses but when we finally got to the hotel we were greeted by the nicest man who spoke some English, which was welcomed by us! We stayed here one night on our whirlwind tour of Northern Italy and we loved it! We had a tough day of late trains/missed buses but when we finally got to the hotel we were greeted by the nicest man who spoke some English, which was welcomed by us! Our room was small and overlooked the next door church's bell. We had a great view of the city and the room was very clean. The man working at the front recommended a great dinner spot and gave us directions to get to the "birdcages" the next morning and invited us to their complimentary breakfast. Much to our surprise he was still working the next morning in the breakfast area! Breakfast was wonderful, a wide array of baked goods, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit and beverages. Very good hospitality! We asked if we could leave our bags while we explored the city some because we weren't ready to head to the bus station and he pointed out a small area in their main lobby where we could store them. It didn't seem very secure but we got the sense they do this all the time and the town seemed safe. It was, our bags were untouched hours later when we returned. We would absolutely stay here again!

“convenient”

Scenic location and convenient for Centro. Older hotel but clean. Was great for our one night stay, passing through. Breakfast good. Staff good. Not sure what parking options are like in peak season.
