Excellent, convenient location. Cordial, enthusiastic, efficient staff. They even advised fantastic walking directions for the area and a spectacular local restaurant for dinner - Palladio Eduardo approx 2 blocks away in a very safe neighborhood

Overall, a great experience at this hotel. Knowing that we’d primarily be using our room for sleeping, we didn’t need to be at a 5-star hotel while in Rome. It was centrally located. You could walk to most of the main attractions and if you were too lazy, cabs were readily available. I’d say the hotel is good value for money. Rooms were large by European standards and featured all of the amenities you needed. My only complaint was around our shower leaking water onto the bathroom floor, which seemed to be a common theme on our trip! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here. It fit the bill for being a good home base in Rome.

Mixed experience at Le Meridien. The rooms were fairly average; comfortable enough, but not particularly memorable. However, what stood out (and not in a good way) was the lack of soundproofing. I could hear full conversations from the neighboring rooms, which made it hard to relax or get a good night’s sleep. The bathroom was another downside; it was quite cramped, with barely enough space to move around, and the shower was equally tight. If you value spacious and private bathrooms, this might not be the best choice. On the bright side, the breakfast buffet was outstanding. There was a wide variety of fresh options, and everything was delicious. The location of the hotel was also a big plus—close to major attractions and well-connected to public transport. Overall, if you’re looking for a place with a great location and breakfast, this hotel fits the bill, but be prepared for some noise and tight quarters in the bathroom.

Le Meridien Rome I was really looking forward to this stay at the Le Meridien Rome but when I arrived I was underwhelmed. I just didn’t feel particularly welcome and it was just a bit meh. The location is great. Perfect for exploring Rome and Vatican City but not in the thick of it. Check in was friendly but I did question the situation here with room type and allocation. All day my Marriott App had been showing id been allocated/upgraded to a king room on a high floor (whatever that means) but the room I was given (and originally booked) was a superior king - 221. Don’t upgrade and then downgrade people during the day. It’s just annoying. It was quite possibly the smallest, noisiest room I have ever stayed in. There was also a huge group registering for an event blocking the whole lobby area - annoying. The walls in this hotel are paper thin and I could hear the room next door to me chat, make phone calls, watch TV, argue and slam doors all evening. It was like I was in the room with them. Absolutely ridiculous. The bed was ok but the pillows were terrible. The light switches didn’t work, they were confusing or broken and the lamp in the room was either broken or was a Mensa puzzle to figure out how to switch on. The shower was good and the bathroom good overall. The shower is very narrow but the pressure and water temp excellent and the bath amenities were good. Apparently the “mini bar” was free but all that was in my mini bar was 1 Pepsi and a small fruit juice. In the middle of the evening there was a power cut which was very annoying, something seemed to impact the floor I was on and it took about 40 mins to resolve while sat in total darkness. There was zero communication or apology about this. The room service was very expensive but basic but the service was quick and friendly. The 7th floor roof is wasted during the day. Gorgeous day in Rome but closed. Locked. No access. I mean, okay, what a waste, wasn’t even allowed to have a drink up there. I asked for water at check out and was told no. lol. It’s trying to be a high end hotel but doesn’t hit the mark and I just felt underwhelmed and that they weren’t really bothered here; no welcome amenity, no pre-arrival comms, no effort to check in during my stay, I didn’t even get asked if I’d had a nice stay at checkout.
