“Family trip”
Great location, safe and quiet. Lots of shopping in area. Convenient in city center. ATM at corner, pharmacy at corner. Staff were very nice. Great boutique hotel experience with elevator!! No official early check in but staff allowed check in as soon as room was cleaned and ready.

The Hotel Memphis is a super modern nice hotel located within walking distance of all the major attractions! The furthest we walked was to the Vatican/Sistine Chapel which was about 45 mins there and back. The room was really nice, updated and didn’t lack space for all our luggage. The bathroom even had heated towel bars! The breakfast was just ok with Scrambled eggs, bacon sometimes and baked goods. It would have been nice to have pancakes to switch it up. Overall We really enjoyed this hotel and the location!

When checking in at Hotel Memphis we were warmly greeted by the receptionist Cristina who is a very sweet lady. The room was comfortable and had most of the amenities one could wish for. The hotel is very central ... just a few minutes' walk from Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and Piazza Barberini which is next to the amazing Palazzo Barberini. Breakfast was served by a very friendly lady called Pina. She made the most delicious cappuccino. Our room was cleaned well daily. We did enjoy our stay but things could be much better. The breakfast offered was very limited; certainly not that of a 4-star hotel, although everything was fresh especially the croissants. I have been to many 4-star hotels all around Europe and all of them had a much wider choice of both food and drinks. Furthermore the wardrobe in the room had a lot of wear and tear, opening and closing with difficulty and making squeaking noises. The bathroom accessories were varied but in very small tubes, so, for instance, if two persons had a shower in the morning using a small shower gel tube each, there would be nothing left for the evening shower. I would expect a decent sized shower gel in a 4-star hotel. Visually the street where the hotel is located is depressing, but given the great location one can turn a blind eye about this.

“4 Star Hotel - 5 Star Location - Yet Receptionists with Bad Attitude Equals 3 Stars”

My family and I just spent 10 awesome days in Rome. We stayed at the Hotel Memphis. This hotel deserves a 5 star rating and would have received one, had it not been for a couple of awkward encounters with one of the receptionists. Yet, let me start with the pros! The hotel is very clean! When I say clean, I mean they cleaned our room everyday, in a time when most hotels only clean every other day. The second pro was location! We were 4 minutes from the Trevi Fountain, 7 minutes from the Spanish Steps, 21 minutes from the Colosseum and Roma Termini, and 13 minutes from the Pantheon. Now the cons. The breakfast was a plus, but the breakfast was not always tasty. There was steamed zucchini on the buffet, but they were cold and tasted odd. The eggs were good, and you had a choice of scrambled or hard boiled, but wieners for breakfast? Wieners for breakfast? There was bacon sometimes, but the bacon looked undercooked. The texture of the salami on the buffet was soft and gelatinous. A second con was the attitude of one of the receptionists. He, is actually the reason why I cannot give the hotel 5 stars! On the third night of my stay, he had the audacity to ask my wife and I where my daughter was staying? He stated that it was two to a room. I was appalled because it was obvious that he was accusing my wife and I of wrongdoing, when in all actuality we had a family room (adjoining). I did not appreciate the random audacity of the I got you moment attempt on my vacation! I also did not appreciate his competence level in calling for a taxi, where I could have missed my train to Florence because of it. He could (older gentleman/receptionist with long gray beard and gray hair), use some hospitality training. For this reason I give the Hotel Memphis 3 out of 5 stars, because I found it awkward that he would be telling me two to a room after we were already checked into the hotel, booked through United Airlines Vacations.
