If you're looking for a true Italian experience, this is it! The modest hotel is run by an Italian family, who will speak with you in fluent Italian whether or not you understand them! They are very lively and truly care about making your stay in Rome a good one. The breakfast in the morning is prepared by them and is a good start to your day. The rooms are what you'd expect for a 2-star hotel, but overall, great value for the price. The immediate area is not touristy, but you're very close to the train station as well as to the Colosseo

Hotel Lussemburgo is a good hotel in a poor location. It's extremely clean and the owners are lovely, even if they don't speak English. They do try and communicating with them is not difficult. Breakfast is basic, room is basic, hotel is basic. One thing I should note, the shower is TINY. If you are tall or larger, showering is not an enjoyable experience here. This hotel is good for those who are in town for one or two days. It's semi-close to Termini. But it's not for a longer term stay. If you are on a tight budget and OK with walking to the more popular sites (colosseum, etc) then you can make the most of your trip. But do note that the train station in a 15-20 minute walk, and all other sights are around the same or farther. Taxis can be pricey, especially returning to the neighbourhood at night.

An old, kind couple is doing this small hotel near the central station of Rome, Termini. The most striking to be said of the neighborhood is that it is chockfull of chinese shops and people, perhaps interesting, but not if you come for Rome's typical attractions: (old) culture. The room we had was functional but rather bare, nothing on the walls, and had a complete but very small bathroom. Breakfast was something like that: everything prepacked apart from the white breada and the black coffee - no cappuccino or espresso. But the price was accordingly, so, we could spend the money on other things.
