A good hotel in quite a good postion. My wife had been here before, I had not, but it was a good choice. It's slightly confusing to find your way about as it has two adjacent buildings with a courtyard between, with a cover that could be retracted (but was mostly covered during our visit as it rained quite a bit). The room was quiet and comfortable, with a good bathroom incl a bathtub. Breakfast was not a buffet, unfortunately, but one could order from quite a long menu and things were mostly served quite quickly. The nearest Metro is Flaminio which is maybe 8 mins walk away. There are also lots of restaurants to the south of the Popolo piazza. Only one thing marred our stay: the fire alarm came on in the early hours one morning. These things happen even in the best establishments, but in my opinion this was not handled all that well. The automated voice told us to evacuate but a duty manager or maybe night porter came around to say it was a false alarm and we could stay in our room. Then after about 30 minutes, during which the alarm prevented sleep, another human voice asked everyone to assemble in the lounge on the ground floor, which we did. The alarm continued to go off intermittently before someone came to fix the fault (a faulty cable they said), and we got to bed again after an hour. But instructions from the staff were contradictory and it's not clear why we had to assemble downstairs if they knew there wasn't a real fire. The following morning I excpected someone to apologise to us, but nobody did.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience in Rome on an extended Thanksgiving holiday, and our staying at Hotel Locarno is a big part of the enjoyable experience. Atmosphere: probably the most elegant and beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in. Not ostentatious, but sublimely beautiful details (palazzo style rooms), with high ceilings, and very well-appointed bathroom (spacious shower), separate bathtub, etc. Location: very easily walkable to many of the key tourist attractions Hotel Restaurant & Bar: beautiful Art Deco style, a must-see bar, and consistently delicious food (fine dining but also hearty breakfasts) Service: the concierge / front desk staff are so helpful, knowledgeable, and great to deal with. They helped set up some logistical things for us, including two excellent tours Hotel Locarno was an important part of why we fell in love with Rome. To the staff - *Baci* from Susan & William.

What a dream of a hotel. A rare place of incredible beauty, history and exceptional service. From the moment of arrival the Locarno held us in spellbinding magic and outstanding comfort. It's obvious those who choose to work here take pride in their property and role in it. From the wonderful front desk team to the housekeepers and food and beverage workers, such true hospitality and warmth is becoming ever rarer in this world and it was so deeply appreciated by my husband and I. Breakfast in the courtyard is a pure delight, the bar outstanding and our room, the inimitable Venezia Suite, created an impression of Roma we will be revisiting again and again. I am a hospitality professional of 30 years and have stayed in all manner of properties all over the world. I will say here that Hotel Locarno has won the crown as my absolute favorite, anywhere. We cannot wait to go back once the crush of the Jubilee has passed. Hotel Locarno, please don't change a single thing.

Honestly there were so many ways the staff went out of their way to make sure my stay was perfect. I am VERY noise sensitive and I arrived on a Saturday night but Sylvia was very proactive in arranging a different room which was perfect for me. The breakfast was beyond ANY Breakfast included experience I have ever had. The bath was sublime and recommendations spot on.
