This hotel was outstanding. We booked it last minute after the hotel next door bumped our reservation. Being bumped was actually a great thing given our experience at Hotel Gea. It started with check in - the clerk was gracious, helpful and welcoming. Plus, there is someone at the front desk from about 7:00am to 11:00pm ensuring you have access to assistance when needed. The rooms were spacious, clean and inviting. The decor was traditional and full of character. The bathroom had great storage and the shower was a good size. The hotel also offers a free breakfast. And, the location is unbeatable. It is walkable to the train station (10 minutes) as well as numerous other destinations including the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. The neighborhood is also chock full of good shopping and first class restaurants. The hotel staff recommended Antica Boheme - a few blocks from the hotel - and the food was excellent. This was our favorite hotel in the entire trip! We feel very lucky that our first booking fell through and we had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Gea Di Vulcano. Highly recommended.

“Very convenient for transport.”
Loved this hotel, very Italian! Comfy beds, clean shower room, very quiet as I was at the back. My brother was at the front and was woken by sirens a few times. Breakfast was plentiful but, only complaint, breakfast room was very small and cramped.

LOCATION: Great location! Trein, metro, Colosseum and Trevi 15 minutes away. Lovely small hotel. STAFF: The staff were brilliant. Alessandra one of the owners helped us with everything! She spoke also English and Spanish!!! Her husband and the rest of the staff really nice!!! ROOM: We had a big and clean room, very spacious with a very nice ultra clean bathroom!!! The room even has a refrigerator! Good TV with movie channels, where we could see films before going to sleep. Nice view from the window and not noisy at all!! The cleanliness was just above perfection!!! Really thankful about that!!! BREAKFAST: Breakfast is gorgeous and fresh with eggs, salami, prosciutto, cheese, cookies, cakes!!!. The filled croissants with pistachios or with red fruits are to die for!!! We don’t remember the name of the Italian lady who helped us with breakfast but she was just amazing!! So Italian nice!!! Everything was ready when we arrived at 11 a.m!!! And they allowed us to leave the bags after check out till our train time!!! Thanks for a nice experience. We´ll come back!!!

“Brilliant for Coeliacs.”
I cannot recommend enough. Our little boy is coeliac and I contacted them in advance and they did the most lovely breakfast for him every morning. Thank you for making him feel included. The room was VERY clean and very comfortable. In a great position for all the major sights. Thank you so much,

Our stay at Hotel Gea Di Vulcano was mixed positive and negative. I'll start with the positive! They are very kind staff and very responsive (mainly only responsive on WhatsApp and in-person!) They are also very accommodating for my gluten allergy and I was very happy to have gluten free options at breakfast (and also dairy free milk options) and they also made fresh coffee and cappuccinos in the morning for you! The location is good. We could walk from the train station to the hotel in under 10 minutes and its close to the Metro and Bus stop as well. The room itself was nice and a large size, as well as the bed. But there were some issues. First of all the building is not all the hotel which is sort of weird, other business and people live there, but the same was with our hotel in Venice, so it may just be an italian thing? While the room was a nice size, the walls were paper thin and we could hear every movement our neighbor did. Also, since it is a quite busy street the Irish pub across the street played SUCH LOUD music every night until about midnight, so don't plan on sleeping before that time. The street noise was quite intense. Also the air conditioning unit in our room made a watery, gurgling noise, so some nights we just had to turn it off because it was so insane sounding. Also weird thing to note, but the toilet to flush it was very bizarre. You have to push the button multiple times to get it going (almost like you are revving up an engine) before it flushes all the way!
