This was the last of 3 hotels we stayed in while on a Perillo tour. This hotel is absolutely beautiful! The grounds and views are breathtaking. It is out in the country, so you definitely need a car or will have to hire a car to take you around. There are 2 restaurants on site. One is a Michelin Star restaurant which we did not have a chance to go to. The other restaurant is in the main building and down a flight of stair and this is where we had breakfast each morning. There is also a small bar in the restaurant. The view from the back patio on the restaurant is awesome. There is a pool with plenty of lounge chairs around and more beautiful views. There is also an indoor pool and a spa. There are several room types. We were in the main building in a room up a couple of sets of stairs. There are no elevators in the main building so if you have any mobility issues this could be a problem. Our room had a beautiful big bathroom, plenty of space to hang clothes, and plenty of room to move around. Some of our group was placed in buildings outside of the main building and they loved their rooms as well. Staff was great and very helpful and friendly. My husband and I choose not to go on one of the tours one day and stayed at the hotel for the entire day just to have the chance to enjoy it's beauty. I would definitely go back!!

“Tuscan charm and hospitality”

We just left Castillo di Spaltenna yesterday after a 5 day stay, we couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay here. We travelled with friends and all 4 of us got massages which we all loved. The spa is beautiful and relaxing. Food was great, and drinks were made exactly how we wanted. A huge shout out to Augustine, our bartender, he was always accommodating and remembered what we liked, outstanding service! All of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful, housekeepers kept our rooms very clean, and always came just at the right times. The resort is a very short walk from town with lots of restaurants for dinner variety.

“Best times were long ago”

This was a great pale many years ago. The buildings and the surroundings are still fantastic, but the service is 3 star at best. Breakfast is a small buffet with few choices (cold boiled eggs i.e.) and don't you dare showing up after 09:50, you will get strong feedback that breakfast ends at 10. E… more

This was a great pale many years ago. The buildings and the surroundings are still fantastic, but the service is 3 star at best. Breakfast is a small buffet with few choices (cold boiled eggs i.e.) and don't you dare showing up after 09:50, you will get strong feedback that breakfast ends at 10. Employees prefer chatting with each other rather than taking care of your wishes. The Michelin restaurant is good (not great), but hopelessly overpriced. The Spa and especially the fitness room are 3 star at best consisting mainly of a lukewarm whirlpool. At check in you are reminded that you have to use the Spa at max an hour a day. However, looking at it you don't want to use it all.

The castle is beautiful on the outside, with well-maintained grounds and one of the nicest pools I've seen recently. The spa area is also very nice. However, the rooms are disappointing. The furniture is old, and the decor looks dated. Despite this, the rooms are clean, and the bathrooms are nice. I have stayed in many five-star hotels, and this one is just okay. There are two restaurants on the premises, one of which is Michelin-starred. We did not eat there because the staff was extremely rude and condescending. We were poorly received by a very rude woman who is the sommelier, Miss E. Her behavior ruined our evening. Instead, we dined at the Osteria restaurant with a garden view, where the staff was much friendlier, and we felt welcomed as one should at any venue, especially a five-star hotel. The view was far more interesting than the internal castle court, which was hot, cramped, and had a very unwelcoming staff. The sommelier later came to our table at the Osteria, supposedly to apologize, but her confrontational attitude only made things worse, further ruining our dining experience. Overall, the castle is not worth the money. There are better places to stay with less attitude from the staff. Instead of apologizing, she made her very unprofessional attitude our problem trying to say she had lots to do and we were the issue because we interrupted her work which was in no way true. This is truly unacceptable behavior for a five-star hotel. I will never stay there again. If this attitude towards clients is accepted by the hotel managers, then there is a huge problem with how the hotel is run.
