Hotel Forum is a calm oasis in the hectic tourism around Herculaneum/Pompei. The room is excellent, service personal and professional. Food really top notch. Breakfast great. Parking was included. Price is very reasonable for what you get. Stay here!

“Well situated and peaceful”

Great situation in Pompeii, just across the road from the ruins. We stayed for a week and used the train to visit Sorrento, and Tourist information a few doors along for tours to Naples, Ercolano and Vesuvius. The Hotel was peaceful even when fairly busy. Great situation in Pompeii, just across the road from the ruins. We stayed for a week and used the train to visit Sorrento, and Tourist information a few doors along for tours to Naples, Ercolano and Vesuvius. The Hotel was peaceful even when fairly busy. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and evening meals were taken in the garden under the vines and lemon trees full of enormous lemons. We had a lovely relaxing stay.

Good sized room and comfortable bed, let down by a horrible smell whenever the air con was not on. Go out of the room for breakfast (so air con off), come back to the room and the smell was awful, a sort of mix between sewage and rotting fish. Good sized room and comfortable bed, let down by a horrible smell whenever the air con was not on. Go out of the room for breakfast (so air con off), come back to the room and the smell was awful, a sort of mix between sewage and rotting fish. It got worse after having a shower, so assume there were blocked drains nearby. Reported it to reception on checkout and they seemed very surprised, but ran after us on the way out and gave us a bottle of wine to make up for it. Wi-fi also terrible to non-existent in both the room, breakfast room and the bar area. Nice courtyard to sit in the evening with a drink, albeit trying to avoid others on nearby tables smoking.

This is a hotel of two halves, some positive, some less so. This review is honest and unbiased - the sort of review I look for when booking a hotel. The location is perfect for the ruins of Pompeii. It is literally a minutes walk from the entrance and is on a lovely, tree lined (albeit busy) street. The gardens are lush - there are upper and lower gardens, both with seating, really pretty and a lovely place to sit and chill after a busy day sightseeing. The restaurant is a decent size and opens out onto the lower gardens. Check in was straightforward (it was late at night) and there is a small lift. However, the rooms don't match the rest of the hotel. We were in #47 and #48 and the rooms are small and tired looking, with 47 being slightly smaller than 48. There is a big comfortable bed, a long desk and small wardrobe. There is no room to walk around and no seating other than on the bed. There is a very small balcony, that overlooks the main road. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: This balcony is also connected to the room next door (#48), i.e., it is one balcony for both rooms, with just a small plant pot in the centre of the balcony. However, I just walked round that and was able to access the room next door (my son was staying in the room) so it is strongly advised that you keep your balcony door closed and locked as the person in the next room can literally walk in from their room. There's no kettle and no tea tray - I did ask for a kettle but never received it. Also, no iron or ironing board. There is a safe. The air con is OK but I am not sure it will be very efficient in the height of summer. The room was nice and dark at night and quiet. The bathroom is an OK size, has a bath, over bath shower, toilet, sink and bidet. However, the shower screen is missing, so every time I showered I flooded the floor and the taps on the bath and sink are rusty. Breakfast was OK. Three or four different cold meats, cheese, toast, croissants, jam, fresh fruit, tea, coffee (on request which was frustrating), individual pots of yoghurt. The hot food was hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and bacon. There were also about five different types of cake. Some were slightly stale. We had one meal in the restaurant and that was expensive and disappointing. The food was bland (apart from the meatballs) and the portion sizes quite small. Some staff were lovely; others less so. All in all, I don't think I'd stay here again - some of the rooms were really lovely, with marble floors, and modern TV's but our rooms were old and tired, with an old TV. I did ask for an upgrade via email but sadly never got it.
