“Re: Great place to stay!”

We stayed with a large group and it was wonderful! The staff is very professional and even though it rained, we still had several things to do including the pool, the cafe/bar, and a short walk into town. The hotel is first class and the nicest we stayed in during our 14 day trip.

Absolutely stunning hotel, right opposite the Lake. The hotel is very elegant, our twin room faced the gardens which are beautiful, very quite with a small balcony to sit out on. The room was spotless and we had a daily towel change. The dining room is fantastic and served a buffet breakfast and Al a carte evening meal with excellent menu which changed every night. The Staff are very polite and well presented. We felt very special and lucky staying here for our weeks vacation. Couldn't of chosen a better location.

“A stylish hotel with amazing staff and service”

Room – Our Room was spacious enough with a lovely view over the rear garden/pool up in to the mountains. Bathroom was very clean and the had everything you need. I would say the only minor detail that let the room down was the two single beds pushed together not being quite as comfortable as a king size double you would perhaps expect from a hotel of this calibre. Pool – The pool area was really lovely and again very clean and tidy with enough beds and towels for everyone. The only thing I would say is be prepared for the water to be a tad on the chilly side but once you are in it doesn’t take too long to acclimatise. Again, a very minor detail to perhaps improve the experience would be for one or two extra staff working in the garden bar to service those around the pool. Restaurant – We only had one evening meal at the hotel in the A la carte restaurant and it was really nice. The service was amazing and felt very well looked after. We had a nice table outside overlooking the lake which certainly adds to the experience. Breakfast – Depending on the weather you can sit inside or out for your buffet style breakfast. There is more than enough food and a good variety to suit any taste. Again, the staff are very attentive and will help with any request. Until the day of our departure we didn’t normally get down to breakfast until at least 9:30 (lazy, I know) when there were plenty of spare tables. Bar – The main bar is a stylish and you certainly get taken back in time with the décor. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. They have a person playing the keyboard with backing tracks in the evening which was ok but thought it could have been so much nicer if they had someone singing. Indoor pool/Spa – Due to the weather being a bit unpredictable during our stay we used the indoor pool a few times. It is a lovely space to relax and enjoy a swim and if you are inclined to use the hydro therapy jets. Even though the weather wasn’t great when we used the pool it was never too busy. There is also a sauna and steam room. All in all, I think this is a really stylish hotel that has great character and history. The staff all play a part and very helpful. There is a mixture of guests from all over the world including fellow brits, Americans, French, German, Austrian and other European’s including some Italians having an extended weekend break. During our stay I would guess the average age would have been around 65. I am happy to say the majority of guests we spoke to were all very sociable and happy but as in most places there are always a handful that will go out of there way to find something to moan about or just be rude? These were certainly in the very small minority. Stresa – There are a few things to do near the hotel and the ferry/boat port is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel where you can visit other towns on the lake or any of the islands. If you come out of the hotel and turn left you can walk for about 2 miles along the lake but if you want to go any further then you have to walk on the road. If you turn right out of the hotel then a nice place to visit is the Pallavicino Park. This is about 1.8 miles from the hotel and has some lovely gardens and small zoo area with various animals. Bars and restaurants in Stresa – There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Stresa and no more than 10 minute walk from the hotel.
